Hey guys,

Earlier I was trying to leave a rep on someone with the new system and I noticed that there's separate text boxes for "Opinion" and "Action".

I entered all of the relevant information for the deal we conducted, and submitted it, but it said that at least 100 characters are required.

I wasn't sure if it meant 100 characters were required for the "Opinion" text box, or the "Action" text box as it didn't explain any of it, but later realized that they get combined, and then counted. Also, I'm not sure why extra text boxes appeared below, since a <textarea> could've been used instead.

I had to basically reiterate the "Opinion" into the "Action" text box just to reach the 100 character minimum limit, which shouldn't be the case since you would want a clear and concise review of the reputee, instead of forcing users to ramble on in each reputation.

After the reputation finally reached the 100 character minimum and was submitted, it showed up in the format:
Code:
{opinion} | {action}
Which doesn't look as tidy as it did before, and it'd probably confuse some people if they're not familiar with the format

Everything else is fine, like showing a screenshot of the evidence, the transacted amount, but I think that the "Opinion" and "Action" text boxes should be merged into one, and the character limit should be reduced to about 60 - 75 to prevent people from having to force extra words into the reputations that they leave.

I feel like if it isn't changed then people will start to fill in the reputations with spam, e.g. "Sold this user _____, everything went smoothly 100 char 100 char 100 char 100 char 100 char" just so they're able to post it.

Thanks.

I HATE the new character limit, should be lowered to like 50 or 75 or something.

That’s the only thing I have qualms about.

Other than your own convenience being hindered. Wouldn’t you think the current character limit forces reputation to be more detailed and closer resemble as a proper review? Wouldn’t that increase the overall quality of the reputation being posted on this site?

Some times if its just a normal small simple deal and you have nothing to say its hard to keep it to 100 chars, however I do agree with the advantage of that. It will take time for the community to adjust

Having to ramble for 25+ extra words is not inconvenient, it's just annoying and unnecessary.

protip: copy paste the same reputation for each person and slightly edit it to match the deal

Since when does quantity = quality?
Using sentence fillers and prolonging sentences only makes it less helpful.

Having separate boxes for actions and opinions I believe is a nice way to make it easier for users to fill up the 100 character requirement without rambling. If you've got an opinion of someone and can't easily write 100 characters about why you have that opinion, you probably shouldn't be leaving the reputation in the first place. I'm a big fan of our new reputation form and I feel like it's really cut back on the amount of reputations left that aren't relevant.

If someone tries to evade the character limit then please report the reputation and they'll be warned for abusing our reputation system.

Denied, thanks for the suggestion.
