My reps get removed, even though most if not all have done a deal with me.

And thats not even a requirement for reputation, the requirement is to simply state your opinion.

Mick posting rep for others: https://gyazo.com/94f2ec49d1669e84f731db2787a8f344
Really, "can confirm he is cool". So that is a valid one but the nearly 20 reputation of mine you have removed is not valid?

Countless other people you constantly purge reputation of. Just because you created a shitty system doesn't mean you abuse to "fix" it. Reputations and ONLY positive ones are being removed in bulk from people. Though when it comes to any negative, they might be quick enough to remove a false one in say 2 weeks? Oh last time I brought this up to Mick, he did not acknowledge it. He merely said you will be notified next time. 20 rep down later and no notifications. Including 4 that were removed today. People act in such childish manners when it comes to negative rep, hell even I get butthurt when I get one. Thats the nature of everyone here. You're only adding venom to the bite everyone has been struck by. The actions arent going by unnoticed and shows a great lack of integrity on the staff team of this market.

Even better, when I brought it up in a support request like normal users should. It was ignored , then closed without a reply.

Remove the system completely or actually think of reasonable fixes.

EDIT: Staff have locked my account at 71 positive reputation. I am not allowed to have more.

I was at 74/75 before this thread. I am now at 71. Lets see how low it goes.
Went from 70 to 64.
Went from 67 to 63.
Went back up to 72, the removed it down to 71.
Went back up to 72 AGAIN, the removed it down to 71.
Went back up to 73, then AGAIN it was removed down to 71.

61 agrees and nothing but support from the mc-market members. Make sure to spread the message.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

We just need to not allow for false positive reps to happen with more education to the community, and enforcement. I also think we deserve to know when and why our rep is removed.

What was the point of this when people already left vouches/de vouches on people's profiles?

I think for now they should disable it. This would mean they don't delete it and all it's data, but all abilities are removed for now. This would include giving/receiving reputation, viewing it, deleting it, or even seeing it on a profile or by posts. I think doing this would at least allow everyone to stop complaining about it while staff re-work the system and improve upon it. I'd like to see the following things happen:

  • Make reputation business related. We honestly have no need for random opinions here when this is a marketplace designed for business.
  • Update the rules and make them more clear. This would include more examples of bad reputation and give a detailed explanation on what is expected of users.
  • Make each reputation include the role (Buyer/Seller/Trader), what section of the forums it is from, a link to the thread, and a link to the MCM conversation as proof of a deal. I believe reputation should only be allowed to be given if deals are done on here directly.

As long as the deal is initiated on MCM (pmed, then went to discord to finish the deal or just stayed in pms) I think this would be the best way to ensure the legitimacy of the rep system. Well said, Nerd.

I say just stick to MCM so you don't have to worry about impersonation or verifying off-site social media or making sure things aren't photoshopped. If on MCM and staff question it you just add them to the conversation and they can read it all directly there. If you can't/don't add them the reputation is deleted and you get warned.[DOUBLEPOST=1501214772][/DOUBLEPOST]

I feel like that would be too much of an inconvenience to most

It's really not though. It's so easy to use MCM. I hate going on and off site back and forth personally.

Well, this is more of a complaint than suggestion honestly.
I think it would be better by adding a character limit to reputation. As well as making positive reputation posted only if the user receiving it approves.
The site would be completely different if the entire reputation system was removed.

Someone else can build onto this if they have a better idea.

If the user receiving a rep could approve/deny them no one would have negative rep. We could abuse the system to our own needs.

TL;DR - This would be terrible.
You misread. I said that to only apply to positive reputation. Some people will remain to abuse it regardless like you said. Hence where I left off where someone else could pick up and build on to the idea. Read all the way through a post before you jump to disagree next time.

Still no reply. What a shame they are not replying to this. By now they have read it. Just don't want to reply.

I don't understand why this is the most talked about topic, but no one does shit about it.
There have been so many fantastic and great ideas in the suggestions forums about it, but they are not accomplished.
If it's "too difficult" to accomplish then just remove the whole system.

My thoughts on the matter:

Make it so that you have to add proof when you're giving a reputation. Just a screenshot(s) will do but people and staff are able to check up on someone's reputation that way. Giving out a reputation without valid proof, should be considered false reputation.

New staff members to the team who's job it is to only check up on the reputation and dealing with disputes of it. Some good rules about would be good and those staff members may check up on other staff members too to keep it fair. Honestly, I feel they have to really enforce those rules and give small punishment for giving false reputation as that is the only way it will stop.

I know it's probably suggested before but this is in my opinion the best way to stop 'corrupt'/false reputations.
