Unless they have directly done a deal with him. Staff / he can simply delete it. If someone keeps doing it, warning points can be issued, since its against the rules to give someone rep, when you haven't dealt with them.

Unfortunately, the reputation system has apparently been decided upon to reflect all sorts of things, your entire behaviour on the site. This means that people can neg-rep you for silly things, as long as they put it 'constructively'.

this isn't the best solution to the problem, you can't just completely disable it. I know people who have had trouble in the past dealing with admins. You're not supposed to abuse the rep system in the way you stated, and as acknowledged by ivain, however this seems like a personal problem with the community members themselves.

honestly id just have mick to take a look at d3l3t3d's wall to clean things up, i know it's not fair for him.

As unfair as it may seem that so many people have a negative opinion of d3l3t3d, he has a very poor reputation *because* so many people on MC-Market have a negative opinion of him.
His points are completely accurate.
Unfortunately, he is hated by a lot of members who know only that he didn't prevent downtime and they lost business, among other things (comments about his professionality, and whatnot).
While we may not feel this is a good reason to dislike someone, they dislike him nonetheless, and that overwhelmingly poor reputation by all those who won't look deeper into it is an accurate reflection of what our community thinks of him.

Which is why if d3l3t3d wants to improve his reputation, he is not going to block or remove his points.
Because doing that would not improve his reputation; that'd just be making it inaccurate.
If d3l3t3d wants to improve his reputation, he'll have to improve it in reality. Either by continuing to be a force for good on this site, and or directly messaging those who have come out as having a poor opinion of him in his reputation and clarifying his good nature, intentions, and ability to be a positive influence on MC-Market.

That would be the healthy thing to do. For him, and for our community. So that negative feelings aren't devalued and pushed aside only to build up continuously, but managed in a positive and healthy way.

I'm lucky enough to know quite a bit about d3l3t3d, and I know he's not at all interested in doing any sort of business on this site; still, he's a lovely person, and people deserve to know that. If, at some point, he finds interest in letting the community know how much of an awesome person he is, despite the downtime that's happened, I'll be very happy to watch the negative points naturally begin to disappear. But he has to want that first.
Maybe being a worthy system admin is simply above ensuring that the community thinks well of him on his priority list atm.

I would additionally/alternatively neg rep Mick for hiring someone who can't keep this site up well, but I know I'd get smashed with warning points for that, even if it's a legitimate thing.

Thank you for suggesting this. I really do appreciate your thought around what people are saying about, and their grading of me. In addition, considering a way in which it could be overcome, but more importantly the voice and strength to say it publicly.

After the first week of being on the site I can vouch more so than anyone the damage that the rep and comment system can have on an individual. By no stretch of the imagination would I consider that time fun, positive or productive.

This question of relevance, and accuracy in regard to me was brought up by staff internally about 5 weeks later. After all, this is a trading site primarily, with the rep system being a system to assist with trade, in the absence of face to face gut feel.

I didn't make comment to the staff at that time, as it is not for me to decide or adjust a system that has been in put in place for a different primary function.

To be completely honest I am ok with the comments that have been left. I do agree that the system is not technically an accurate mechanism by which to judge the position I hold. However, it is the only system publicly available for people to express their feelings directly and permanently. This being the most important component, the ability to voice.

The reason why I am ok with it? Whilst that first couple of weeks was abhorrent. There were a couple of shiny diamonds twinkling amongst the rest of the effluent surrounding my feet. Despite not knowing me, they knew the other people making the commentary, that in itself gave them enough reason to privately pose their own questions and or welcomes. For which I am forever grateful. Aside of the personal benefit that had, it quite clearly showed, that despite there being a grading system in place that may or may not be abused, may or may not be 100% accurate. Like all things in life people always have a choice. A choice to listen, a choice to judge, a choice to consider or a choice to care.

So again, thank you for the thought and effort of starting this thread. Thank you for the effort to comment.
