Looking to hire a developer for a small web project and wanted to check if what I’m imagining is technically possible.

I’d like to have a website that pulls in and displays my existing Notion content, but only for authorized users behind a login portal. The idea is to have different subdomains for different servers (for example: mineblock.exelt.gg), each with its own login page where staff can sign in using credentials that we provide. If that's not possible, then basically we can re-create the notion content on the website. It must allow me to edit it, since it'll be for different servers etc.

On top of that, I’d like to restrict copying/duplicating of the content as much as realistically possible (e.g., no easy copy/paste, saving, or downloading), to help maintain the integrity and exclusivity of the guide.

If you have experience with:
  • Integrating Notion content into a custom site
  • Auth systems with role-based/staff access
  • Content protection / anti-copy measures
please let me know:
  • Whether this setup is feasible
  • Any technical limitations I should be aware of
  • Rough pricing and timeframe
To contact me please send me an email @ [email protected]

Thanks in advance,
Exelt

Hey Exelt,

I saw your post and wanted to give you some honest feedback before you spend money on this.

The copy-protection stuff you're asking for won't really work. Right-click blocking and disabling text selection are easy to bypass, anyone can screenshot, use dev tools, or just retype what they see. It stops casual users but not anyone actually motivated to copy your content.

Here's what I think is actually going on:
You've got server documentation you want to share with staff across different servers, but you're worried about it leaking. I get it. The thing is, if you give someone access to view something on the web, they can copy it somehow. That's just how browsers work.

What might actually help:
  • Simple login system with individual accounts (so you can revoke access if needed)
  • Activity tracking so you see who's viewing what
  • Watermarks with usernames so if something leaks, you know who.

Just accept that trusted staff will have access, focus on trust, not tech barriers

Honestly? You might not even need a custom site. Notion already has permission controls. A password-protected Notion page or a simple site through Webflow might do everything you need for way less money and hassle.

That said, if you decide you do want something custom-built, proper auth system, clean interface, easy for you to update, I'd be happy to chat about it. I focus on higher-end projects but I can point you in the right direction either way.

Just didn't want you hiring someone who'd take your money without mentioning that the main thing you're asking for isn't super realistic.

Feel free to reach out if you want to talk through options.
