Shared Minecraft hosting would be what most hosts here offer, ie you order a server and the Multicraft details are emailed to you.
A dedicated server is a computer running 24/7 in a datacentre that you have full access to. You wouldn't get any panel with this and would need to be able to manage it via command line.
A VPS is a slice of a dedicated server. The management is the same (command line).

If you're ordering less than 8GB-16GB, shared hosting is usually cheaper. We can do 20GB for $35/month.
Dedicated servers usually start at $50-$60/month for 32GB RAM.
VPS varies depending on the specs and type of virtualisation.
If you don't have any experience with Linux, I would strongly suggest staying with shared Minecraft hosting for the moment.
