Hi,
So recently I’ve been seeing a lot of people posting threads and replies to threads saying stuff like:
  • “PM me for proof he scammed”
  • “PM me for proof of account”
If you ask me, they’re trying to hide something from people. My first thought when someone says to message them for proof of anything, is they photoshopped the picture/changed the source via Inspect Element.

I think it should be required to provide proof on a thread as it’s much more convinent for buyers as they don’t got to go through the hassle of messaging someone and then later on get scammed. Providing proof on a thread is also a good way to become more trustworthy within the community.

I personally - 99% of the time - will never message someone when they say “PM for proof” or “PM for details”, if a seller wants to sell something, they gotta persuade me on a thread, not PM. It’s kind of like a first impression type thing, but that could be just me.

Doing this, could cut down on scamming and also the public could find faults in a fake picture.

The only time I understand if someone doesn’t want to provide proof is when they sell a server because players might leave, but, in the end - the players will find out regardless so that excuse is kind of pointless.

This is just my two cents, but I think this should be a rule.

Are you referring to account sales? If so, users must have the account linked to their profile in order to create the thread. If an account isn't linked, report the thread. Posts saying things such as 'user scammed me' can also be reported as there is no evidence provided.

I’m referring to any thread. The thread that triggered me was this thread. The seller didnt want to provide proof, but then later did I think. But, I think proof should be provided on ANY sale thread on the OP.

The problem with that is the services that do indeed block/close/ban accounts that have been sold or are for sale. I don't know YouTube's policy regarding the sale of accounts but Instagram does close accounts that are sold. It can be used as a source of protection against account closing. Sellers might also not want to disclose their account to people who have no interest in buying. The OP in the specific thread states in a post that he will provide proof to those interested.

A thread can only share so much, obviously you want to persuade potential clients but at the same time, do you want the thread to be 10 paragraphs? No you want it to be enough to get your point across. I also only want to show proof to clients who are interested, if you are really into using their service you'll take the time to contact them. It's nothing different from posting it on the thread, then from messaging it. ANYTHING can be edited, or changed.
Providing proof isn’t gonna be 10 paragraphs it’s literally 3-4 images that there’s proof you own the account. I could type 10 paragraphs saying I own MCM, does that mean I own it? People want picture proof, not proof that is typed and trying to sound good.

I personally would rather provide proof in PM's then on my thread. It would take a minute to private message someone asking for proof. There's no difference.
But, from a buyers perspective, they don’t wanna take the minute to message you. You could of lost a potential buyer. But that isn’t the point, proof should be shown to the public in case someone is trying to pull a fast one. I mean, there’s no rule against me messaging you, then posting the proof on the thread so I just don’t see a point of asking people to PM you.[DOUBLEPOST=1517248840][/DOUBLEPOST]
they cant with accounts with velt ranks and arcane ranks since staff remove it.
Why not just link your account to MCM? That’s valid proof, but then again they could still find out. That’d be a valid exception in my opinion.

If someone is actually interested in an item they will take their time to find out more information about it.

I can agree, but that’s not the main point. You should provide proof to benefit yourself and also if you’re selling something, then provide the proof you have it. I see nothing wrong about providing proof on the thread. Make it easier for everyone.

But they can message you if you show proof? There's NO difference. Honestly... If a buyer can't find that minute, then he isn't going to be successful. There's certain things a client can ask for in an image, that most likely can't be faked. For an example, "Can you provide me a GIF?". It's that simple.
Why message someone asking for valid proof where you can save the hassle of them faking an image if they just post it on the thread.

I messaged someone one time and they took 2 days to respond, we were about to do the transaction when my buddy noticed something wrong about the picture. Basically, the guy changed the source in Chrome and there was a <br> where there wasn’t supposed to be. I waited 2 days to find out that this was a scam, and eventually the guy got banned for attempting to scam. Now, if he iust put the proof in the thread it would’ve saved me from almost being scammed as someone may have noticed it.

I don’t wanna take my time out of a day and wait for someone to send a picture back that could be fake.

So you think posting all the proof on the thread is going to stop people from faking images, no. This isn't really a solution. It's a decision, I mean honestly if you believe someone is going to fake a screenshot/proof then don't message them. Usually people who want to scam people that way it's noticeable on the thread.
I never said it was a solution, but more people will see the image and be able to point it out if they see flaws.

It's up to you as a buyer to do your due diligence before buying a product. If you are interested in something you should either ask for proof on the thread or you can ask through a private message and if the person is interested in selling I'm sure they'll give you proof. I see this as a solution to a non-existent problem.

Denied, thanks for the suggestion.
