The thing about it is how are people going to use it? Some resource authors (including my former self) have been setting fake sales which last forever. Would it become another meaningless aspect without regulation or would it actually have a purpose.

It just shows the actual sale, and unfortunately, it could be abused, but it also shows the user that there is a sale w/o having to look at the title for the sale.

Although this would be quite neat, this could, and would be easily abused. There would have to be some sort of system so people cannot abuse that. How the system would work, I don't quite know.

Although we haven't implemented sales, we have implemented coupon codes which is basically just the same thing except better.
