Howdy!

Whenever I sell an item I generally include a .txt in the download that says thanks to the customer and explains some basic things about the product. This is great, but updating these .txt's is difficult and frankly they are a little annoying to have in the file. Whenever I sell on other digital downloads platforms, though, I have an option to type a pre-written message that will be sent to the buyer every time an item is purchased.

This pre-written message can have two settings:
  • A global default
  • A product-specific option
In this sense, it is very similar to how the Terms of Service feature works currently. You can set the Terms of Service for all of your items or you can write a separate Terms of Service if one of your products is a little different. In this case, you should be able to write one global default "thank you" and then have the option to override it if you choose with a product-specific one.

Obviously, this isn't a necessity for selling products, but it cuts down on the following things:
  • Seller inconvenience of updating their .txt's
  • Lessens sellers from posting "Thank you for buying my resource" on the buyers wall. This is just spammy and unnecessary etiquette.
  • Allows the buyer to know who to reach out to if a problem arises and that their seller actually cares.
  • It is just a generally great Quality of Life feature.

Note: This would not be an automated PM. It'd just be something that appears on it's own window after the purchase.

I’ve talked to Mick about this, and as far as I’m aware, an automated private message (like an auto responder) for purchases was on their list of things for resource updates (Memory might be serving me wrong, but that’s what I think Mick told me). I know this suggestion is about a separate window, but private message / window seem to be the same functionality.

Totally agree, this feature should have been out way sooner

edit: “I did read through it and so did Justis and I think some of the ideas were implemented added into our dev docs, but I can’t remember any specifics” I had purchase auto responders on my Resource Update document, so hopefully that’s something they did consider

At the moment we aren't planning to do any more development for our site until we can migrate to XF2 since we'll have to rewrite everything then. Perhaps once we move to XF2 and have fixed all the bugs that come with that and have more time for some new development we can work on this, but for the moment this isn't something that we can justify the development for.

Denied, thank you for the suggestion.
