I think it has came clear over-time on this forum that a lot of "developers" either;
A) Steal intellectual property,
or B), Produce bad code

A lot of people (or at least, a decent amount of people, but that's an understatement) on MCM have been selling low-quality software for as long as I can even remember (I joined here 2016), and its probably just gotten worse over time. You'd be surprised at how many "developers" don't know what the wait or notify/notifyAll methods do, or even how to use them. There's some who even don't know what a linked list is, and at this point it's just straight up embarrassing to some of the stuff that people try to sell on here with no effort made. Some people don't even know what a fork is, and it really shows. (I honestly don't know how you manage to not know what this is...)

My suggestion: if a user wishes to sell their software (ex, under the Plugins section) they need to provide at least:
- Code snippets
- Package explorer
- Some of the main class, and the main function (onEnable if this a Bukkit plugin, otherwise the main function itself, or at least a part of it to prove ownership)
- MAYBE have one public project on GitHub (or equivalent) that shows the user can actually code and has been learning Java properly for at least 3+ months. (I honestly recommend 6+ but beginners might want to sell small stuff so I mean...go ahead) They should be able to link their GitHub/GitLab (or whatever) to their account (I'm not sure if this is already a thing)

In my opinion, if people refuse to provide code snippets on a thread where they're selling software, or if it's obvious the software they're selling is "skidded" then they should just be banned for attempting to sell it. Some people will end up buying it anyway, and will basically be getting scammed.

Buyers would benefit from this as they would know that they're purchasing good-quality software and not just some junk that was forked from a leaked plugin or something that just contains straight-out bad code that isn't good enough for production environments. Most servers now seem to be like Skyblock or Factions where having good-quality software is a must considering how many players are on the server at once.

I'm sure there'll be people who disagree and some who agree, but just remember if you know how to code properly and you don't steal intellectual property then with these restrictions you wouldn't be effected. I think something in general needs to be done about this type of stuff even if it's not what I stated because it's getting kind of ridiculous at this point, MCM is basically being used for scamming because there are no proper restrictions in place when it comes to selling software.

I cant say much myself since I dont have much rep, or posts.. But I do feel this is a growing problem and I wish there was more rules on quality and support on most products.. Especially fake vouches, I wish there was a way to say that someone has a "Verified Purchase" before vouching on a thread! I totally agree with you, I know the staff are busy as it is but maybe there could be a anonymous voting system that doesn't link to profiles so you feel more free of giving a valid opinion with verified purchase's or even like you said, code snipets and people can see almost the scratches on the phone before buying it! Even if MC-Market Enforced some more rules on copied software.. Maybe regular checks on stores? But who know what the future of MC-Market brings!

I agree but i'm new to coding, and I don't think that should stop you from posting plugins, I look at other code to see what methods they use for example, but I try my best to produce my own code.
I understand that not all people are like this but we should atleast give them a chance.
Yeah I think there shouldn’t be a restrictment like that now that I think of it. This is mainly directed toward selling leaked software

Indeed. I'm super hesitant to introduce requirements like this to only one specific forum, when realistically this could be a problem in every single product sale forum, and it would require an unrealistic amount of moderation to ensure that the requirements are met. Instead, it is important that buyers are aware of the risks and are able to mitigate against it themselves through doing their own due diligence.

Denied, thanks for the suggestion.
