Hello all,

Recently a friend of my was interested in a network so he put a bid on said network, however, when he went on the network, it had a lot of issues and errors and therefore retracted his bid but also by the time my friend was online, it was sold and since it's an exclusive, he didn't buy. Another point is that my friend wasn't the highest bidder anyway, he offered $85 but someone else apparently bidded $200. Anyway, I'm not here to fight about his punishment. I'm here for the change of the rule. The reason I'm saying this story is because of the reason, he simply retracted his bid on a server and got punished. I understand that the rule is here to stop people wasting their time but really? Surely, it's the buyers choice if they want to retract since it's their money.

Possibly they should only retract with only a valid reason e.g. seeing errors on the server that were not said of in the thread (even though it said it was 100% done).

Rule: 5.3.1 Do not bid anything you're not committed to paying. Retracting bids is allowed only at the seller's discretion.

High performance, consistent uptime and fast support. Minecraft hosting that just works.

Simple rule change: As soon as someone outbids you, you are no longer committed to that bid. That way, if someone wins the bid from you and you decide to go for something else, you cannot later be pinned because the person that won backed out or the deal was off for some other reason.

I like this. My friend wasn't the highest bidder but the highest bidder pulled out or something later on ;/

and it does not diminish the time-wasting discouragement, since it still means you need to be committed to every bid you make, it just makes it so that the seller getting screwed over by some other guy does not affect you.

well, the nice thing about suggestions is that they can be used to discuss ideas, meaning that the original does not need to be implemented for something to be done about it.

I agree with Ivain, I was the one selling that Network and it got sold out.
But the main thing that stands is "He made a bid of 75 and then $85" for the network" I would like to mention that, When the deal was going on I asked him many times, If he's interested.. He said that Yes, but later when the time came to pay it he said he's not interested.

I don't think making such a suggestion like this will even get him over that suspension.
I disagree with this.

Not only are you being biased to the situation since you were the buyer but he only backed out once he saw the server. He was interested till he logged on.

I don't really like this rule as it is. Deleted User 48892 once almost dealt with a kid, got details about the deal and decided to back out as it seemed sketchy, and got suspended. The next day the kid was banned for scamming, and scammed multiple people. The points later got removed, but still took like 4 days to get removed.

This should only be punishable if you bid on stuff frequently and back out. Doing it once shouldn't be 20 warning points. That's just over the top. People get away with worse for way less warning points.

From a neutral perspective(meaning not part of the deal), this seems like a good idea.

If you didn't do your due diligence before placing a bid down then I think that is your fault. However, if the person was purposefully trying to hide the poor-quality of a product from you then you should be able to retract your bid which is how the system is right now.

Denied, thanks for the suggestion.
