Back on Tuesday Samsung revealed the Galaxy S20 lineup of phones for 2020. The phones look incredible and have countless new features.

However, I’m an iPhone user, have been all my life. So my dilemma here is that I simply can’t decide if I want to switch over to android or not. I currently have an 11 Pro Max which has been a great phone to use but I’ve grown tired of the repetitive nature of Apple.

So I’m asking any and all android users, why should I switch?

Realistically I don't see the incentive to switch away from being an iPhone user if that's what you're used to. None of the features of the S20 phones are significant enough to justify a switch to a completely new OS and ecosystem (if you already use a mac or apple watch etc). The specs of the S20s are definitely impressive, but I doubt you'd ever be able to tell the difference between 4gb of ram and 16gb, for example. The display looks pretty cool for the S20, but the iPhone will probably catch up this year in terms of display quality too.

What do you mean by the repeitive nature of Apple? Why wouldn't you want to stick to what you are used to if there's not any problems with it?

Luckily I’m not too deep into the Apple ecosystem. The only other Apple product I own are the AirPod Pros. The greatest loss for me would be everything I’ve purchased on ITunes over the years, mainly movies.

I suppose I view Apple as being repetitive simply because it feels like I’m buying the same phone every year for a higher price. It could just be that the novelty has worn off after so many years using Apple phones. Occasionally Apple will mix things up and release something like the iPhone X but eventually they’ll return to that cycle of releasing the same phone but with some minor upgrades to the specs and camera.

or more. It's been two years since the first phone with an Underscreen Fingerprint sensor was made; apple is yet to "make" that.

For me, the main reason why I prefer Android is that you get more control over your device. For most people, this doesn't really matter and iOS is just as good of an option, but for me small things like being able to install apps from outside sources, the customization/organization options (including custom launchers), and the ability to explore the file system make it better for me. I also prefer the (default) look, but that's just a question of taste.

(I have tried both iOS and Android)

The FaceID on the IPhones at first was really wonky and only worked half the time. On my Pro Max though it works extremely fast and I have no problems with it. It would suck to lose that but at the same time screen Touch ID is always a plus.

I am thinking the opposite, I own a Huawei Mate 20 Pro and I am thinking to switch to an iPhone 11 Pro Max I feel like the software itself is smoother compared to Andriod 10

Kind regards

Perhaps we’re both just bored of our respective phones. I guess it was inevitable that we would want to try something new at one point.

Android gives you more control and is generally easier to navigate. Apple has a nicer interface and more novelty features like Animoji. Android has custom launchers, though, and I believe there are ones that literally rip Apple's UI and put them on Android, so.

Android is pretty easy to use and samsung makes some decent phones, however if you are used and attached to the iOS why bother switching. Otherwise the S20 looks pretty sweet alot of good features for the price tag.

I might just buy an S20 ultra and keep my iPhone with it. If I end up not liking for whatever reason I can sell it and make my money back.

If you have an older iPhone, or Samsung, I recommend trading it in as they bumped the trade in value substantially. My s7's trade in value was $75 after the s10 was out for a while and its now $200. Sadly can't trade in an s6 I've had laying around for years anymore. You probably can get away with buying an s7 for less than $70 and trade it in for a $200 discount on a s20.

I'm currently debating between the s20 plus and ultra myself (pre-ordered both already) as my s7 is on it's last legs and waiting for the oneplus 8 pro doesn't seem worth the additional months of waiting as I've been planning to update since November but nothing really checked all the boxes I was looking for.
