I've recently thought of a new idea(well kind of new idea). My idea is to bring the world of Sword Art Online or Alfheim Online into Minecraft. Although this had been done before I wish to create a better version of the game and add many of the features that others have left out. There's just one problem. I don't have the money or time to manage or create both at this time and sadly I can't pick one over the other. I am posting this threat to ask everyone's opinion as well as take any suggestions that you guys have. If you don't know what Sword Art Online is I will put a brief summary of both.

In 2022, a virtual reality massively multiplayer online role-playing game (VRMMORPG) called Sword Art Online (SAO) is released. With the NerveGear, a helmet that stimulates the user's five senses via their brain, players can experience and control their in-game characters with their minds. Both the game and the NerveGear was created by Akihiko Kayaba.

On November 6, 10,000 players log into the SAO's mainframe cyberspace for the first time, only to discover that they are unable to log out. Kayaba appears and tells the players that they must beat all 100 floors of Aincrad, a steel castle which is the setting of SAO, if they wish to be free. Those who suffer in-game deaths or forcibly remove the NerveGear out-of-game will suffer real-life deaths.

One of the players, named Kazuto "Kirito" Kirigaya, is one of 1,000 testers in the game's previous closed beta. With the advantage of previous VR gaming experience and a drive to protect other beta testers from discrimination, he isolates himself from the greater groups and plays the game alone, bearing the mantle of "beater", a portmanteau of "beta tester" and "cheater". As the players progress through the game Kirito eventually befriends a young girl named Asuna Yuuki, forming a relationship with and later marrying her in-game. After the duo discover the identity of Kayaba's secret ID, who was playing as the leader of the guild Asuna joined in, they confront and destroy him, freeing themselves and the other players from the game.

If you would like to know more watch the show or visit https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sword_Art_Online

After clearing the game SAO Kazuto discovers that 300 SAO players, including Asuna, remain trapped in their NerveGear. As he goes to the hospital to see Asuna, he meets Shouzou Yuuki, Asuna's father, who is asked by an associate of his, Nobuyuki Sugou, to make a decision, which Sugou later reveals to be his marriage with Asuna, angering Kazuto. Several months later, he is informed by Agil, another SAO survivor, that a figure similar to Asuna was spotted on "The World Tree" in another VRMMORPG cyberspace called Alfheim Online (ALO). Assisted in-game by his cousin Suguha "Leafa" Kirigaya and Yui, a navigation pixie (originally an AI from SAO), he quickly learns that the trapped players in ALO are part of a plan conceived by Sugou to perform illegal experiments on their minds. The goal is to create the perfect mind-control for financial gain and to subjugate Asuna, whom he intends to marry in the real world, to assume control of her family's corporation. Kirito eventually stops the experiment and rescues the remaining 300 SAO players, foiling Sugou's plans. Before leaving ALO to see Asuna, Kayaba, who has uploaded his mind to the Internet using an experimental and destructively high-power version of NerveGear at the cost of his life, entrusts Kirito with The Seed – a package program designed to create virtual worlds. Kazuto eventually reunites with Asuna in the real world and The Seed is released onto the Internet, reviving Aincrad as other VRMMORPGs begin to thrive.

ALO is a Virtual Reality Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game (VRMMORPG) in the Sword Art Online series that was released a year after the beginning of the SAO incident. It is compatible with any FullDive device. The game features nine races of fairies, magic and dungeons. What makes it different from SAO? You can logout and you dont suffer any real life consequences if you die in the game.

This will be the 3rd option. After Sugou is beaten and arrested the game ALO goes through many changes. ALO II mixes mechanics from SAO and ALO I and also adds the floating castle Aincrad into the game as well as all 100 floors and bosses. Although it adds some features from SAO it still keeps all the old ALO stuff such as logging out, no death penalty, 9 fairy races, magic etc.

Now that you know the difference between SAO,ALO,ALO II heres some of the features that will be included

Some of the features planned for SAO

- DeathBans
- Leveling system
- Housing system
- All 100 floors(Including dungeons/bosses, towns, etc)(atleast 10 finished before beta/release)

- Party system
- Guilds

I'd think I would actually play the first gamemode, SAO, which is the first minecraft gamemode I'd be excited for in a long time. You'd have to execute it perfectly though, resources pack, bosses, clean guis and systems, etc.
Edit: I do want to clarify that I haven't watched either anime.

both of those are bad, the anime, in general, is bad, the light novel is bad. you should make the no game no life universe as a minecraft server or the konosuba, danmachi or log horizon universes.

What about GGO? BEcause I would either play SAO or GGO in my opinion. I wouldn't waste my time on making a ALO server tbh.

Sao is my favorite but Alo would be the best for a Minecraft server.

The movie "SAO Ordinal Scale" are pretty good tbh, rest S1 and S2 are shit

ALO can be pulled off thanks to Elytras

SAO can be pulled off thanks to pvp mechanics and custom enchantments.

Which one is easier? You'll experience the same difficulty with both.

I'd prefer SAO though.

In terms of builds & content, Alfheim is easier, since it's smaller and more completely documented (since there's not 100 floors, only a few areas are undocumented and are still at least named).
Mechanically, SAO might be easier, since its mostly about "Sword skills", which should be easier to implement than a whole magic system.
However, if you do go for an SAO server, be aware that there's dozens that have tried and failed, and there's like 1 or 2 servers out there that are actually succeeding at getting something properly playable.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions and feedback. For now SAO is in the lead so I'll start working on SAO soon. I'll make sure to keep everyone updated and continue to take any suggestions :)

I'll consider make a GGO server. My plan right now is to start working on SAO(which is currently in the lead) then if things go well create the rest of the games(GGO,ALO etc).

both of those are bad, the anime, in general, is bad, the light novel is bad. you should make the no game no life universe as a minecraft server or the konosuba, danmachi or log horizon universes.
Because SAO is currently in the lead I'll focus on SAO for now but i''ll also consider what you said.

I agree. SAO has been something many people have tried to develop but it turns out to be too difficult to complete. I will take all of this into consideration :)[DOUBLEPOST=1524779806][/DOUBLEPOST]Just so I know. Would you like the server to be modded or no? Either way works I just want the communities opinion.
