So scam reports are a major issue right now with the current and obvious backlog. I have a suggestion that could change help to fix this backlog.

Give accused 24 hours to reply, after 24 hours they're unable to use the site. However, don't ban them. Move any scam report that has exceeded this 24 hour response period to a different section that is still public but is not clogging the regular scam report section. Any account that has been accused of scamming and has not replied to an open report their account will be restricted and only able to reply in the new section for inactive reports. Once commented on, they can be moved to the regular section again.

I'm sorry if this is confusing, reply with questions and if you disagree, comment why. Don't just leave a rating and run.

While I see why you would suggest this, but it is unnecessary. It wouldn't really help to relieve the backlog in my opinion and having to make Scam Resolvers move threads between sections like that would actually create more work for them. As it is now (I believe) is that if you fail to reply in 48 hours they send you an email, if you fail to reply within 24 hours of the email being sent, it is assumed you scammed and do not wish to argue your case and you are banned.

That system works just fine in my opinion.

Doesn't really solve the problem, just moves it around. And a "24 hour" rule on a report won't do much to help as most reports probably have replies but are waiting to be approved by their scam report moderator. As the scam resolvers obviously "can't dedicate a lot of time to MCM", I think that's where the problem lies.

Just have the team go through all the reports, approve the legitimate ones, and get it done. Honestly, in every suggestion staff give the same excuse, "We're people", "We have lives", etc. is just an excuse at this point. If you can't give at least a few hours a day to paying job, then quit, we don't want you. There's plenty of people who can do a much better job then you can, don't waste a staff slot so you can get your payment. Obviously if there's a legitimate reason, then okay, but seeing the scam resolvers poke ass in shoutbox when there's this problem is an issue for everyone.

I feel like this would resolve non-staff user inactivity on reports but the staff is the real problem

That's another issue that needs to be dealt with.

With my suggestion, it would allow them to process more reports and keep inactive ones open even while not actively working the case. 72 hours is far too long to have a scam report sitting inactively and taking up space for reports that are more current or both accused and accuser are active. It would come down to staff activity again however I think this solution would work in the short-term. Short-term taken lightly considering it takes months on end to get anything done.

When you clean your room you move stuff around and organize it, no? That's essentially what this suggestion is, moving reports and sorting them into active and inactive reports. If a report is inactive for a week in the separate section it could result in a ban but they shouldn't be sitting in the regular section for a week only to result in a ban and waste of space where supposedly active scam report resolvers are working reports. At this point, all replies on scam reports should just be automatically approved. It would make everything significantly faster. Or make posts by creator and accused automatically approved and all outsiders must be approved. I was going to type something else but I forgot because my dumbass is a slow typer on my phone

I just see it getting moved and ignored, which is a short term solution but will cause future problems. Same with your room, I move it under my bed and forget about it until someone complains about it and it gets dealt with faster. It's much easier to just get it done, and then keep a steady pace going from here on out.

But nothing is getting done, that's the main point I'm trying to get at.
