So hey. I have been noticing a rise in scamming over the past few months, this could be due to people getting scammed and figuring, "if they can get away with it why can't I?", so I am making this thread to show people how to not get scammed.
1. Ok so firstly you want to look out for red flags, these will usually be stuff like them having low rep and wanting you to go first or they come up with an excuse to give you proof of ownership or something like that, there also are some people who impersonate other people so they can scam others.
2. Make sure if the person has low rep you get a middleman or make them go first, this usually secures a high chance of not getting scammed or if you are sceptical about having a middleman just find a high rep and well known member to help you.
3. Look out for people who in their thread have bad grammar, spelling, you must go first, only accept funds via friends and family on paypal (This only counts if member is low rep) and if they have ridiculously low prices that are just to good to be true.
4. Make sure this person is active within the community and not just some random dude who hops on to scam people.
5. Check to see if this person has any scam reports filed against him and check his page to see if anyone is giving him negative rep.
6. If this person has given you a direct link to a website claiming that it is a trust worthy website that you can use for whatever purpose you are looking for, it is most likely a phishing scam or a shady business.
7. Always make sure this guy is not linked to other shady people or scammers, this will make sure that you are dealing with the right people and not some kid trying to make a quick buck.
8. Ask for opinions from other members to see if it seems like a scam or not, usually with multiple opinions it will lower your chance of getting scammed.
9. If you get randomly added on Skype it may be a scam, always ask for them to first pm you on the forum.
If you have any questions just pm me or someone that is experienced in this type of thing.
Leave any things you can do to avoid scammers in the comments also leave scammers you know of in the comments so people can try and avoid them, only post their names if you have solid proof of them being a scammer.
