Can we get an SSL Certificate on mc-market?
The world is going encrypted, and it costs like $100/year for a good ssl certificate...
So can we ?

High performance, consistent uptime and fast support. Minecraft hosting that just works.

We don't handle sensitive information that needs to be encrypted. The most we've got is your password, and you can secure that yourself by ensuring that it's unique, and lengthy.
That $100 could easily go towards better things for our site.
That's not the only cost either.
Switching to https means the ads google adsense can use are reduced... Dramatically.
Because very few people make ads that can be posted on SSL encrypted websites, and those who do pay very little for them to be posted, because they can, which is a huge loss of revenue for us, if implemented.

The reward is not worth the cost.

There have already been suggestions about it before. BeBosny has declined them.

If we were a website that stored your home address, bank details or similar info, maybe. However, at most it's a password, email adress and, maybe, a phone number (for 2FA).
It simply isn't worth it.

This has been suggested hundreds of times. MCM is above security though. Kappa

But seriously, here's a few of the reasons I've seen:
  • Adsense
  • Links needing to be rewritten
  • Images posted by members would need to be proxied/waste of bandwidth
  • No sensitive information is transferred (??? compromised account = banbanban!)
I personally don't care for SSL here. It's a forum on which I only make a couple hundred a month. Losing my account on it is meaningless.
