Selling skidded plugins.

I have seen so much skidded plugins out here lately and none of the users wich are trying to re - sell them are getting banned. Is this the name way of money making? Decompiling someones plugins and then selling it? I don't think so and I think this should be bannable. If someone is re - selling parts of someones plugins you should be able to make a scam report and then give enough proof and in my opinion this user should be permanent banned due making money of someone else their work. In my opinion this isn't fair at all. Like Buz sold toggling's plugin wich was vHCF wich was totally skidded from tHCFcore. And I have seen so much edited sources codes from paras hcf core out here. We should make a new rule against this business. Thanks and if you disagree tell me why you disagree.

Gonna comment on the suggestion itself, the most commonly skidded plugin would be HCF cores, I've seen them soo many times each with each other's code in it, I've been hired countless times to 'fix errors' in them (usually 200+ errors), so I've decided to no longer work with HCF cores unless it's built from scratch.

Why HCF cores have skidded, error-filled code is anyone's guess.

Because there are 9 years old who have watched java tutorials and got a leaked core of off [Censored] and thought "Oh, let's make my own core!!!" And they just copy paste.

On the original suggestion:

Lets say I am a builder, and a client hires me to make a factions spawn. I suck at building, but I take the job anyways. I go to [Censored], download a spawn. Now of course I cannot resell this spawn, because the buyer could tell that it is copied.

What if I take worldedit and replace some blocks, so it looks a little different. Cannot sell that.

What if I cut off the top half and rebuild it. Maybe, but that would be pretty questionable, and I am still using half of someone elses work.

Now if I download a spawn, change the blocks, cut the walls down (so there is only a base), and redesign it, then yes, I agree you could sell that.

I think with programming it is more difficult to draw the line, but I do agree that those who are blatantly stealing others work should be banned.

Well, Let's take the example vHCF. That plugin is fully copied of the tHCFcore that has been leaked. It's just stealing someone else their work. Adding some shit and re - selling it. Your just selling someone else their work. This should not be allowed IMO.

This is indeed not allowed. Obviously if a piece of code is literally the same it's stealing. Those cases are easy to resolve, simply look into the source-code and compare, if there's lack of any significant difference it's a copy. However, the specific case I assume this thread was originally made about is when someone has a piece of code that looks VERY similar to someone else's work but is not quite identical. That's the real tricky part.

They could have copypasted something and tweaked a few things, or they could have figured out the same method on their own. At this point it depends very much on the context and situation, and only an experienced programmer can really say for sure. Needless to say, Lyphiard is a bit too busy for us to bother him with this sort of situation.

Also, stealing is stealing, there's not much of a difference when either way, you're profiting off of someone else's hard work. Not having the skill, knowledge, and creativity to create something people want may be pretty depressing, but I don't see how it can make you feel better by stealing from people who have what you lack.

You giving away the hard work of others for a profit of your own has absolutely ZERO correlation with whether or not you play Minecraft.
