Send Ad button

Hey,

Saw this thread and had a though. Since people are unable to keep track of how long it's been since they last sent an ad, how about a button to send the ad instead of having to time it or check the archive.

Basically thinking something like this:

Next to the submit button just put a button that automatically sends a set ad message, this ad message is set by the user somewhere in settings (not sure where the best place would be).

Thinking something like this when the ad is on cooldown, here at 18 minutes at 36 seconds left before you can send a new ad. This should automatically update each second or each time the sb updates the new messages.

This could also be an Ultimate feature.

The reason we don’t have a timer built in is because we want chat to remain primarily a chat. We don’t want to encourage that users advertise their thread at the soonest available second. The best solution would be if everyone waited long enough to where it was obviously longer than 20 minutes before posting their advertisement again. Forget to check the time of your last ad? Wait another 20 minutes and violating the rule will be impossible.

It sounds counter intuitive, but by making this change we’d actually be making advertising harder for you to do effectively. Right now the effort required to do this means that less people do it and therefore your ad becomes more effective. We’ve always been hesitant to allow for people to automate this, but it is slightly easier for Ultimate users which I believe is fair. If you put the effort in, you’ll get more sales which is perfect.
