Warning: The contents of this thread are serious and adult in nature. This thread discusses my thoughts about humanity and the implications of an attack such as the one seen today towards France. For some quick information, here's a good article on the subject. If you want more information on the actual situation, I'd recommend at looking on the front page of www.reddit.com
The following is something I wrote after being depressed and disgusted by the very human beings who are a disgrace to mankind that were involved in these attacks. I ask that all responses are serious and mature in nature. I request that you take the words below into consideration and attempt to remember this brotherhood that we all share as humans and remember to respect the differences of one another (our differences make us uniquely awesome) and do your best not to judge each other as hard as it is, not only in this community, but in real life as well. Hatred of any kind is the very thing that leads to the horrible attacks seen today and previously in this history of mankind. Please do not contribute to this hatred and remind yourself of the implications that hatred towards a person, group, or sect, is the very thing that has lead to the terror that billions of people face on a frequent basis.
Why is it that humanity as a whole, all so genetically similar, all so connected, happens to see a difference between groups of people and then decide to eliminate that difference? As humans, we all have our own set of unique values, beliefs, and motivations, but even so, we all share the fact that we are conscious beings. Together. All of us. It is a disgrace to humanity as a whole that there are people out there in this vast and incredible world that get enjoyment out of depriving others from the very values, beliefs, and motivations that make them uniquely human. There is no reason for this. There is no value in doing this.
What happened today in France is undoubtedly tragic. It’s horrible, to say the least. Whoever out there who supports the death and terror of other members of this humanity are thereby disassociating themselves as a part of what we would all optimally and naturally consider to be brotherly human creed. Those who spent even a moment of their own lives depriving other human beings -- their own brothers -- of their values, beliefs, motivations, or even their own incredible and uniquely fruitful lives can no longer be thought of as human. A person this dark, one this bastardly, may no longer be considered as a brother to our creed as humans and are enemies to the whole of mankind.
I ask that we all stand together in solidarity to ensure our own unrestricted and natural right as humans to maintain the very values, beliefs, and motivations that make us truly human. Being human carries some unfortunate visceral behaviors, but as conscious and intelligent human beings, we are all able to make amends for any harm that one may do to another in this context, so long as no party is causing the deprivation of any one or more person’s humanity. We shall no longer allow those who impede us of these natural human rights to exist within as a part of this brotherhood. In doing so, humanity can thrive and grow strong. In doing so, our values, beliefs, and motivations will exist in the very way that they are meant to. In doing so, we can share the connection naturally and incredibly made through our own humanity with all those within this brotherhood that have proved that they have earned their place within.
On 9/11, France stated "Today we are American"
On 13/11, we say "Today, I am French."
