Hello MC-M users,

I was wondering how much RAM should I buy for my upcoming server? I'm currently doing 6GB of RAM for a Skyblock server with around 100 plugins, around 80 small plugins and 20 big plugins. What do you think I should have for a player base of around 50? I was thinking about 10 GB but still not sure, want to be prepared for anything to come.

Thanks for all your help!

why so many plugins :p
About that  I have a Discord and players can suggest things and I have people who have really good ideas and I think they fit with the server. It is a lot of plugins I know lol

If the server and plugins are optimized, you will be fine more than fine with 10GB's of memory, however, if it is not optimized, you could use more.
Okay, thanks for the reply! When I check /lag it says I have 363 MB of free memory which is a pretty small amount for 6 GB lol. This is with 80 plugins and no player base too :/

Oh dang. You could definitely do with some optimization. See if you can improve a few things in spigot.yml, bukkit.yml, and server.properties. If that fails, you likely have a few issues with some plugins. They are definitely harder to find, however, with a bit of research I am sure you will be able to figure it out.

I am currently running my skyblock server on a 1GB server for testing, I have over 60 plugins and am only using ~700MB's.

Damn definitely, checking things out right now. Don't want this to be a really laggy server and shit. From the start I knew there were some optimization issues. Thanks so much for your help!

Are you looking to host off of a dedicated server? I would tell you to go get a $16 gigabyte dedicated server, but i'm not sure of your budget. Otherwise 12-16 GB's off of a mainstream website host should suffice. But with an increasing player base and an increasing amount of plugins, I would definitely look into a dedicated host.

Not really looking to host off of a dedicated server but will definitely check it out if I cannot resolve the current issues.

Go for at least 16 GB on release. The last thing any new player wants to play on is a laggy server.

Get a i7 4790k 16gb ram from sys for like $40 and you can setup multiple servers with the ram and have great cpu power :p
I can get i7 7600k with 16 GB of RAM for $31 / month, I’d rather not switch my hosting service :p Thanks though
