Hey, so I have been trying to make a server for a while now and I have not been that successful with it but learning after every mistake. I am here for some advice from other server owners.

So I am in the midst of the development of new features stage of my server. I have my builds, icons/logos, website, and probably most of the custom plugins I need. I learned how to code so I can code some Minecraft plugins for the other plugins we need as they will probably be small anyways.

I am wondering a few different things, I may be looking to hire some configurations who would work with the server as developers to help with this development phase and for the future. I am now sure what is the standard for paying configurators, is it per hour, per day, or per project? Since I was thinking they would stay on the server after and help with what is needed possibly I was thinking per hour but I am not sure on that. I am also wondering what is the process you have for hiring configurators. Do you just look at their past work or do you also have an interview to get to know them more since they will probably need access to console.

I was also wondering how many average recurring players I dedicated 1k to marketing. I was hoping for around 10-15 but I am not sure if that's possible. We are developing a skyblock server and I think we have some cool ideas players would like.

One last thing is I have a manager on my server who is my friend IRL and has been helping me make decision with the server. However, as she does not know much and I don't know much I was thinking of possibly getting another manager to help me out with this. Would you think this is a good idea? (Please don't message me yet as I would hire managers after the development phase anyway as that's when I planned for doing the rest of the server planning and whatever else)

Thanks in advance to anyone who responds.

High performance, consistent uptime and fast support. Minecraft hosting that just works.

I don't think spending 1k on marketing is the move unless your server is already making that type of money. I just don't think it's worth. I currently run a server and it averages about 25 players and around 40 on weekends. I've spent $0 on marketing and I've done all marketing by myself through tiktok. Server has only been out for about 3 months and within the first month it was already around 15 players average.

Yeah we were planning to do tiktok and that stuff but we were also thinking to have YouTubers and mainly use that budget for YouTubers.

I just don't think YouTubers are worth it unless you're hiring large scale YouTubers that are getting 20-50k views minimum. But hiring larger YouTubers such as that would require more money. I've manage advertisements for several decently sized servers and that is my conclusion.
Alright. Thanks for the advice!
