Hey,

I'm feeling down right now, I spent a lot of time working on my server and I just opened it today but it's already dead. I guess I made a mistake by not having a trailer so that sucks. I used to use PMC whenever I open a server and loads of people join, ofc most leave and a few stay but I did that today and only about 20 people joined, and none stayed. I don't really know what I did wrong, the server's setup and all that stuff. I could go on venting all day but I'd rather not treat this as a diary. My question is how can I revive my server? It's not even a day old so I guess there's a chance of growing a player-base and not having it end up to be a dead af server.
I have an advertising budget, but it's not big. I'm willing to spend around $300 on advertising, however the ideal for me would be to spend less, maybe $150 or lower.

Thanks!

- Social media (instagram, facebook, etc).
- Youtubers.
- Banners on forums.
- Slots on mc server lists.
- Word of mouth.
- Discord server.
- Server trailer.
- Give them a reason to join, maybe a prize every month for something.
- Skype mass messages. (Though you'll probably get hate)

Also, make sure it's a good server.

Unrelease the server.

Release a trailer, get people hyped for the server.

Release the server.

get a trailer, pay youtubers (depending on what the server is) to upload the trailer, do giveaways, get good staff.
Would a trailer even when it's out already work? I'm thinking of still getting one done but I'm unsure.

I'll try whichever of those methods I can, except for the mass message, lol.

I thought about that but I'm more keen on the idea of having a beta map for 2-3 months then a fancier release later on, might change my mind again as I always do though :(
If you just released it, I'm not too sure why you are making this thread, it takes time to grow a substantial playerbase/server, it doesn't work overnight. With your budget, YouTubers would be ideal.
I was upset, and still sorta am. I'm probably just jealous of servers who did the same thing as I and yielded better results. I guess I need to be more patient and less attached to my server lol. Do you think one 10-20k ytber would be good or multiple 1-5k ytbers would be better?

Thank you for all the replies btw :)

If you have a single big youtuber and they leave, most of their fan base would leave, if you have multiple youtubers and one leaves, there would still be the other fanbases
Thanks for that, I was planning on blowing it on one vid but I guess a few serieses from smaller youtubers would be better.

I would suggest getting slots on mc server lists because a lot of new minecraft players dont know which servers are good so they just search up the lists and they may find your server pretty fun and then share it to their friends :p

Also you should close down some of your server and make a trailer saying your server is still in beta testing and as the release date gets closer, work on your server some more
It's on beta rn but everything is open, I'm asking players on what changes they want and hopefully I can make those changes happen after beta.

Okay, so it's been about ,10-11 days since I opened my server. I have an average 4 players on, I think that's pretty bad. I haven't done any paid advertisments, is it time to get a paid youtuber or two?

Thanks :)

If your server is good and well put together you won't even have to do giveaways to get a decent playerbase. Your server is not 'dead', you've only just opened. It will take some time to get a steady playerbase. Look around your server, see if anything needs change for the better and find a couple YouTubers to make videos on it. Don't expect a lot of people on the first day. If you're server is good, word will get around and eventually you'll have a steady playerbase.

I've seen the server and design of the website and buycraft and I can say it looks really professional. I really like the art style too.
PMC and other lists don't work that well anymore, most users who join are just looking to get staff, but you can get some loyal players at times. You are better off getting youtubers like you said or a slot (which will cost a fair bit, 3k+ since it's summer break).

Good luck on your server!
