Server hosting for a private SMP

I have zero experience in the inner-workings of a server. My friends and I want to create a minecraft server to host an SMP on. There will be 10-15 players. What is the best option? How many gigabytes should I buy? What websites do you recommend?

2 gigabytes of any standard hosting option will host 15 players on a regular survival server (no plugins I assume) just fine. Honestly 1 gb might be enough but it's better to err on the side of caution for an extra dollar. Make sure to spend no more than $2.50-$3.00 on it.
