Hello all, I am looking on where I can get a home server machine for a not too costly price. It will just be for personal game servers between my friend/family and I to use. As well as for messing around and learning about the administration, software, and such behind them. :)

Any knowledge and places will help.

The machine itself. So a computer yes. I can then install the things I need to use and mess around with.

I've thought of that but I don't trust eBay people anymore. Too many times I've been screwed over.
That's unfortunate.. Hopefully eBay buyer protection worked on your side? You can build machines for cheap with new parts from Amazon and Newegg but don't expect anything too powerful for cheap. For personal use I still recommend trying to get some used/older harder. I previously had a 16 core Proliant that I got for like $200 on eBay. :p

It's personal brand loyalty. Buy whichever brand you feel the most comfortable using.

I personally won't use anything other than supermicro, mainly because I want the front of my rack to look the same (ik ;c), and because I don't have to pay an arm and a leg for remote management licenses (I'm looking at you Dell...).

Just make sure you're prepared to listen to the server running. Rackmounts can be extremely loud.

A home pc or a server?
A home server. I want to actually be able to touch the machine. ;P Mainly so I can have full control over it and not pay a crap ton a month for me just goof off with it.

Acer Aspire E5-571P-55TL its an i5 or i7 processor 2.7GHz with 500GB HHD can get that changed to SSD if you need but its a good gaming pc not to mention it will last a lifetime. I currently have the same model with HDD and I've been having it going on 3 years.
A server not a normal gaming PC. I need something like a rack server. Something that can easily be stored, on 24/7, and such. Sorry but thanks. I also don't buy prebuilt PC's.

Are you looking to build this yourself?
If so, I would build a PC first, as building a rack server is very similar.
I have already built a few PC's. But I don't think it will be cheap if I build it unless I use old parts.
