Hello everyone! I'm a server owner of a server called MLGames. I am interested in hiring builders to work for my server, as we already have a large amount of a playerbase on the Discord and are eagerly seeking a great community. We are proactively looking for talented builders to join our team, in the hopes you provide a great portfolio of previous work. You can also apply via our server website and check there frequently for updates and more information! We want you to work with our talented and hard-working build team leader: M6L/Donas. Our Discord Link: discord.ml-games.com Build Team Applications: apply.ml-games.com I have vouches of people who have worked previously with me before, so do not hesitate to contact me via MCMarket! * Keep in mind the builders work voluntarily, so they do not get paid.

My discord: 8ML#8131
IP: play.mlgames.ml

Thanks for reading!

So how does it work that you have a large playerbase but lack the ability to pay your builders anything at all? Or is it just an issue of willingness?

The issue is playerbase. Almost no players = no donations.
Ah I see, you call your discord server members a "playerbase"... A playerbase is normally referred to the number of players who play a certain server daily, or who are at least active on it.

Most likely, only about 10% of your discord server or less will actually play your server daily after release so I would suggest not calling your discord members a "playerbase".

Some builders commission to work unpaid for projects/servers in the hopes of expanding their talents, creativity, and knowledge to help the community without expecting something in return. It considerably depends, so you don't have to be so pushy to evade the thread creator about merging his topic to PlanetMinecraft instead of MCMarket.

The better response I have to ask, is why waste your time replying to a thread that specifically states at the end 'Keep in mind the builders work voluntarily, so they do not get paid.' There is no logic in your argument, because this thread is all 100% unpaid services for a server owner starting to get involved in the MCMarket community and management services offered around it. The server owner might even have issues with funds across the server, you don't know his status/situation profusely in the beginning.

If you can't agree with this because you are interested in strictly paid positions, then the thread creator probably has no issue taking your advice into account - however I doubt he took interest in your reply, but I could be incorrect.

Being honest with you here - in the end, your reply is simply just feedback, nothing else. Some builders are solemnly talented and want to help someone unpaid, some could be sluggish and accept only working paid... it's a very possible situation, think about it carefully. I am in no way saying you or anyone replying to the thread is a poor builder, but it is a possible idea that is not inferring to focus on teasing/discouraging someone.

(I've helped 8MLGaming enough that I'm done seeing the unnecessary addressing of worried people in an unpaid position for a server that's starting to gather a good team)

Again, you’re just giving feedback in no help at all, rather more or less pushing their interests away. Way to discourage them!

Keep doing that, it totally helps someone beginning the curve in learning MCMarket and “all about business”!

The reason we do this, aecs, is because it's extremely annoying that people keep assuming this is a good place to ask for free builders. Some people are a bit forceful about it, but this is the ONE site in the whole bloody community where it's NOT natural to expect free builders. Almost any other site in the entire minecraft community it's perfectly normal to expect free builders, except for this one, where the people that work for money come. And then there's people here that still come to ask for free work. It's honestly insulting, even though most people that come here don't know any better.
This is why we refer them to PMC etc, since that's where such requests belong.
It's not a bad thing to ask for free builders in the minecraft community. It's what the community was built on, after all. But this site, of all places, is the worst place to ask. Which is why we try to discourage it. If we ENCOURAGED it, soon the forum would be overrun with people asking for free stuff, to drown out those that actually have a budget.
So to answer your question as to why we 'waste our time' saying this in a thread that says from the start that they can't offer payment, it's to:
1. Redirect them to sites where they'll have more success recruiting
2. Keep the part of the community that wants or expects free labor off this site
3. Imprint the impression that people asking for free stuff are not generally welcomed here, no matter how nice of a person they may be themselves.

Now, some people react a bit more strongly than I do, but the base idea is the same. The idea is that we view anyone who comes for free stuff HERE of all places as a beggar. That's a harsh view, but that's at least the case for me.
The worst is when they come asking for free builders for a project that they themselves will be making money with. I can't tell for sure if that's the case here, but people that try THAT can just go away and not return. If you're making a commercial server, you can pay the people that work for you or do everything yourself.
For perspective, I occasionally do something for free as well, just to remind myself of the spirit behind the minecraft community. However, if someone's going to be making money off it, they're not gonna get it for free, period.

PS:
Locations where a chance of finding builders willing to participate are significantly higher:
- Planetminecraft.com
- Minecraftforum.net
- reddit.com/r/minecraft
- Discord communities focused on building.
Im sure there's many more, but these are the most obvious ones.
PMC is the best example imo, since it's basically the opposite of this site. They actively forbid commercial activity, which is the main purpose of this site.
