Server Owners getting funds

So, I was kinda curious and wondering the methods of how people gain their funds to start the development of their networks I just wanted to see what people think like what ways and that cause a guy told me he was using his life savings to fund a server lol so that's sorta funny to me. But yeah I was just kinda wondering what people think server owners started out gaining their funds to develope their servers

Most people take money from their own savings to create one, and hope it goes well, profit back that money with donations etc.

I was a YTber , so i used default plugins and had hosting sponsored. And slowly the server grew and now it funds itself + more.

1) be like Kylew and scam people out of money
2) beg for money in the investments and loans section promising that your opfaction server will TOTALLY be different than any other one out there
3) save up money from doing work, selling stuff, etc.
