Server Tips?

Now, I am sorta asking on tips if I was to start a server. Questions will be divided into 4 groups. After ALL questions are answered, I will post a thread with them answered. (Crediting the one who answered it.

I am doing this for these 2 reasons:

1. I am thinking of starting a server, but I want a few tips
2. For other people who want to start a server.

Staff:

• Ways To Choose Good Staff?
• How to make sure they do their job?
• How to make sure they don't do something they should?

Gamemode:

• What's the best gamemode?
• What plugins go along with that gamemode?
• Is this gamemode hard to manage, or easy to manage?

Advertisement:

• What are the best ways of advertisement?
• How much should I spend on advertisement?
• Should I buy premium slots on server lists?

Budget:

• What's a good budget?
• What's the best way to divide this budget to pay staff, pay for advertisement, plugins etc?

Management:

• What's the best way to manage everyone? Everything? Every plugin?
• What's the best way to log EVERY staff action (Like bans, mutes, etc)
• [Personal Question] Is AdvancedBans good?

What I mean is, lets say there's a new mod, how do I make sure they don't ban people with no reason?

Also, can you please list just a few more, base plugins? And remove the dots on the answers?

I wouldn't recommending doing Practice or HCF, the entire PvP community is so toxic now. The players on HCF and prac are hard to manage, over 50% of the players cheat today anyways.

Would recommend taking a different route for the more "friendly" players.

  • Why they want to be staff - make sure they have plenty of detail
• How to make sure they do their job?
  • Use incentives - like payments, keys, kits, stuff like that!
• How to make sure they don't do something they shouldn't?
  • Have a Staff Handbook, and always have a bans page (Litebans) on your site!

Game mode:

• What's the best game mode?
  • To earn money: Factions
  • To get a lot of people: Skyblock
  • To get a toxic community: HCF
• What plugins go along with that game mode?
  • Essentials for anything
• Is this game mode hard to manage, or easy to manage?
  • Depends on which one you pick, but with Factions and Skyblock, make sure they're unique! There are lots out there!

Advertisement:

• What are the best ways of advertisement?
  • Premium server listing slots...
  • Server Trailer with key incentives - like mine (made by MASk0), for an example;
• How much should I spend on advertisement?
  • $30-$50
• Should I buy premium slots on server lists?
  • Yes, refer above

Budget:

• What's a good budget?
  • $150
• What's the best way to divide this budget to pay staff, pay for advertisement, plugins etc?
