Hello,

One of my favorite features of MC-Market is being able to browse freelancer threads in the Services forums. However, these forums are getting bogged down by spam from Discord teams. No matter on what section you browse, the results are tainted by these threads.

The biggest problem is that these teams think they specialize in every area; development, art, builds, textures, models, etc. This leads to them posting a service thread in every section. After being baited into their Discord, you are lead through an awful ticket system and placed with people who have no portfolio.

Regardless if some teams are better than others, my suggestion follows:
Make a dedicated section for service team threads.

If users are found not posting in that section, or littering their threads in every section, discipline them for spam.

Examples: (first two pages only)
Design & media -

Building -

https://www.mc-market.org/threads/475619/
https://www.mc-market.org/threads/470146/
https://www.mc-market.org/threads/443305/

https://www.mc-market.org/threads/457596/
https://www.mc-market.org/threads/332061/
https://www.mc-market.org/threads/532510/

etc.

The main format of these is a one image thread with no portfolio that links to a Discord and nothing else. You often see them offering and requesting in the same section (how does that make any sense). They also bump aggressively to stay on the front.

I want to browse for a specialized individual, not a generalist team.

Thanks

I suggested this long before but seems like they like to put suggestions into the decline sections.

Also my other similar suggestion which needs more light.

I see that now.

If you're looking for a web designer, you'll look in the web design forum to find someone. When you do, a list of every single web design service on the site will show here, including both service teams and individual freelancers which is exactly how it should be in my opinion.

Service teams aren't an idea invented by MC-Market, it is our users recognising the benefits as freelancers and customers of dealing with managers to receive a more professional experience when handling commissions. If you personally would not want to deal with a service team or want to exclude them from your searching for services, then simply focus on the individual freelancers.

In a market like MC-Market, as long as services are ethical, I feel like the fewer restrictions we put on the way that people sell their products or services, the easier it is to transact on our platform.

Denied, thanks for the suggestion.
This is Mick's reply to your first thread that he denied. I hope he reads my OP and tries to understand the issue a bit more. You have to browse the section as if you are actually wanting to hire someone and you will clearly see the issue.

As mentioned, I would much rather find a skilled freelancer that isn't masked by a team that doesn't specialize in one exact area. These teams are spamming their threads in multiple sections, clearly showing they do not specialize in any areas. They are setting up a Discord, a thread image, and not even linking portfolio work. They hope to bait users in, grab their money, take that sweet percent, and throw some garbage back at you. This isn't what the section should be about and degrades MC-Market's freelancer reputation.

I've read through your arguments against service teams as well as many other peoples, but I still believe that forcing service teams into one forum is incredibly unintuitive and needlessly killing off these teams. You don't need to specialise in an area to offer services in it. I also disagree with your judgement that service teams are here to essentially rip users off, and if they were doing that then they would all have horrible reputations and be banned for scamming by now.

If you're looking for a service and personally don't want to deal with a team and would much rather deal with the freelancer directly, then you can state that on your thread or simply ignore the service teams that contact you. There are a lot of teams, and that is because they are successful at what they do.

Denied, thanks for the suggestion.
