There are lots of people who are specifically noting for "no service teams" to contact them when they are looking for a particular service. While I can understand both sides of the argument here, I think that something should be put in place for clarification. Are we allowed to devouch or neg the service team if they decide to go against our wishes? Is it unwanted advertisement? Will revenge rep for doing so be allowed? It's becoming very frustrating posting a service request and it shows that they aren't reading your thread to see what you really want. I would expect heavy opinions on both sides of the argument.

So, what do you think MCM community?

I agree, service teams really need to stop posting on threads with their premade message. It's annoying. Now, from a team owner, I can see how it can get a few extra sales but come on... at least read the post before commenting *cough* sales reps.

Yeah, I agree. It's not that hard to take a few extra seconds to read a thread before you post.

I think personally that this would give t big company’s more attention and take away from the smaller guys trying to get out there if it’s just a one stop shop for everything. Also with sales reps ect It ends up taking longer to get a certain ticket accepted
Great point!

As owner of a service community (Yes, we are a community, kind off like Mc-M) I believe that I myself am guilty of pasting messages but I believe that the barrier between helping and spamming has just got a little bit too small. I myself am actually just trying to help people out while others are just trying to earn money. Well I'm curious what the results will become.

Yeah. I believe I saw you go against someone saying "no service teams". Just make sure that you are providing a service that the customer wants. :)

I'm not sure if I like the solution posted in this suggestion, but it's clear SOMETHING needs to be done to encourage team owners and managers to rein in their sales reps.

Honestly, I own a service team, and we tell our sales representatives to not post on other threads with those messages. If someone asks for a team, it's fine, but no pre-made messages, and no posting on threads which say no sales reps. We need a place for advertising the teams rather than just in the sections. +1

You did just this some days ago and tried to beat around the bush like you didn't just ignore the OPs wishes then later edited your post to write, "whoops, didn't see that first bit!!" after I told you that you were acting as a Sales Rep.

Why do you care if it's a pre-made message as long as it's pertaining to the thread and not ignoring what the OP wants? If service teams would rather look like bots than human beings and have their company die down, that's on them.

That's already against the rules. It's breaking the 1.8 rule, which you can see in answer #2 down below.

This might be a pretty cool idea! It should only have the Owner of the service with a detailed explanation of what the servicei s about, what it offers and estimated starting prices.

As for the OP
Q. Are we allowed to devouch or neg the service team if they decide to go against our wishes?
A. You can devouch them. As for neg repping them, you can but it might be removed if a staff sees it as you using it to punish users so make sure you write it in a way that seems like you're warning users of how said person is.

Q. Is it unwanted advertisement?
A. That would be an unwanted advertisement because it has nothing to do with what the OP wants. It breaks the 1.8 rule
1.8 Do not post content which is extremely low in quality, irrelevant, redundant, unnecessary, or meaningless. (e.g: “Looks nice, GLWS”, “Vouch, bought an {item}”)
That might be considered cold calling, but I don't see that term used on here often.

Q. Will revenge rep for doing so be allowed?
A. It depends on what the rep says. If someone writes something along the lines, "user neg repped me because..." then that's blatant revenge rep as well as using the reputation system as punishment, instead of using it to warn people, which is what the system is all about. If someone lies in their reputation, it's best to make a support request so you and the staff who it's assigned to can discuss the rep.

People do miss things, they're only human, but if that person is told by someone that the OP requested that they do not get teams and the advertiser show signs of not caring or signs that they saw it but thought, "hey, maybe if they see our team and how we do and all, they'll purchase from us!" then yes, they should get punished. I don't think it's fair to just punish those for something that you can just ignore unless their intentions were to ignore you.

This is an indirect suggestion and I like how you went about making it instead of straight up suggesting something and coming up with how it could improve MC-Market.
Thank you for your in-depth analysis of this issue, I appreciate your insight. I would like a staff member to chime in to confirm what you said regarding the rules of advertisement and rep/vouching.

Service teams shouldn’t be blocked from threads. What should happen is service teams have a cool down of some sort. Normally sales reps don’t bother reading the thread. I’m not sure of the solution but something should be done.

I don't think that teams should be blocked. I can see their value and how they can get freelancers with those who need something. But the issue is when the member doesn't want that yet a sales rep still pitches it.

If a user doesn't read your thread and instead decides to PM you and this leads to you having a negative opinion of them, I see no reason for you to not be allowed to give them a negative reputation for contacting you before reading the thread and wasting both of your time.

Denied, thanks for the suggestion.
