Getting a new laptop, looking to spend 1,400 max please leave your thoughts and suggestions!

Used for everyday use, just browsing the internet, using discord, MAYBE playing civ and minecraft.

High performance, consistent uptime and fast support. Minecraft hosting that just works.

It entirely depends on what you're going to use it for.

If you're doing light to moderate intensive work such as light gaming and browsing on the internet i'd highly recommend getting a Macbook. I currently own a 2017 Macbook Pro and MacOS is a pleasure to use, I was a sceptic before as most people am about "overspending" on a Macbook but I now believe if you find a good deal on one of them you should get one.

No need to spend that sort of money if you’re legit gonna browse the internet.
Man, throw me a suggestion, I want something that looks sleek as well. Its going to be used for business, I can't walk in somewhere with a dino.

What will last in the long run is the razer blade. Your macbook, for anything below 2500, won’t last more than 3 years without showing signs of ageing. My laptop (MSI) is now running its 3rd year amd hasn’t got a scratch. It’s pretty much on-par with Razer’s selection and I’m sure choosing windows will be the more mature choice. Razer blades also gives out a hacker vibe.

However if you want to flex you need only apple stuff. Don’t forget to get the 799$ stand.

I have the top of the line 16-inch MacBook Pro, Ghast is right. You go all in for a Mac to get the best outcome. Although, you mentioned "everyday use, just browsing the internet, using discord" and all of those things are completely adequate for a MacBook, MacBook Air and even a 21.5 inch desktop. If you're in school and are going to use it for that as well, I recommend MacBook Pro level and above. If you want to play Minecraft and/or CIV moderately, either will do but the Razer would be better suit. If you think you are spending the majority of your time doing otherwise, I would go for the Mac.

"Gaming" laptops are what you should be looking for in terms of price to performance because to game you need a good balance of CPU+GPU. MacBooks are good for general usage, but in terms of that price to performance is insanely low, as they rip you off every chance you get at less production cost.

I've worked with Apple products before and what saves them is their OS, they use terrible hardware and their software saves it by being optimised well. However with unoptimised products (games; Minecraft, etc) it plays pathetically. You can get a Razer or an ASUS, whichever one you can actually get value for money on, install Apple OS and make it a Hackintosh, difference is that then it'll actually have decent parts.

Completely depends on what you are using it for my friend, I would say a MacBook is great for music production, video editing (1440p will run fine, 4K might be a bit iffy) and coding would be great on a MacBook aswell. But on a Razer laptop could get you more performance which could in theory last longer if you plan to game or (dare I say cause I hope you ain’t) use it as a secondary device for streaming. honestly

Productivity alone = MacBook

Gaming focus = Razer

also from my friends saying it (because I can’t afford a MacBook) a MacBook battery can last longer

Consider your circumstance, do you have a gaming PC already? Then you probably don't need a gaming laptop.
Personally, I've found more versatile devices like the Surface Pro and iPad Pro have opened up more functionality for me than the functionality I lose. Depending on what you want to spend, having different devices best suited for different tasks seems to be the best way to go.
I would recommend getting a high power desktop, a cheap, light and portable mobile computer and if you want to spend the money a high power laptop for those edge cases where you want power on the go.
Alternatively, I've been using a beta of shadow.tech streaming on my surface pro, and it's worked pretty well on high speed connection. Basically a windows RDP, works to get that power when you need it on a low power device.

One of the laptops that most people overlook is the Lenovo X1 Carbon and the X1 Extreme. Might be worth checking out in your price range ;)

Lots of options for what to add to it including the good ol fingerprint readers, smartcard readers, Touchscreen and range of different CPUs and SSDs. I don't own one but I've only heard positive reviews

I bought an iPad Pro to be my new daily driver. The speed of the operating system is what sold me on it, absolutely no wait time from logging in with Face ID to going into any numbers of apps like safari, google drive, and any other app I need for school. Also can choose between a nice keyboard case like logitech's brydge series or even a fully external mechanical keyboard. Mouse, trackpad, or just touch screen.

I do have a windows based machine as well for more complex tasks.

Neither, I bought a dell laptop and I have used it for coding and testing plugins and it works fine for a daily driver.
