Is starting up a server still profitable?
I have been thinking about it for a while and know that in order to attract a good playerbase you need to spend a good amount on the server. I almost have the money to do it but I'm not sure if I should go through with it just because of the risk that I don't make the money back or a profit.

Let me know what you guys think about this.

If you have a decent balance to start out with + You are gonna be dedicated,go for it. If not, then don't do it due to the fact you'll lose money.

These days, starting a generic server won't work anymore. There are far too many out there for every single game type. In fact, if you can complete this sentence: I'm going to open a <one noun> server!, then you are probably not going to see success. You'll need a new idea, and plenty of money or perhaps some YouTubers to advertise your new idea. Best of luck to you :)

Well, I had a server for 3 months. August 28th - Early December. I had a player base of around 5-10 at peek times, and made around $500 in profit.

I quit the server just because I lost interest and decided a job outside of minecraft is probably more profitable.

Now I do landscaping around my neighborhood and get paid around $50-150 weekly.
What about the winter...
