It isn't that easy. When you want to add a new smilie in Xenforo, it must be any image file type or a gif. You can easily just copy and paste it, it's not like you constantly need to race to be the first to post or simply say the word "shrug".

It's not really a waste of space as people can copy and paste it already, and I doubt it'd take insanely long to implement. And if nobody uses it then the "waste of space" shouldn't be a problem should it? I have seen multiple people use it though, and if this was a thing then more people would use it
