If you are a forum user (no minimum posts, or views). You can get paid per view, instead of monthly, I have a friend who was charging ~4$ per month, but gets over 1000 views daily, and another person who gets ~100 views daily and charges 10$ per month.
If you are an advertiser, instead of paying someone who gets no views more than someone who gets thousands, you can pay pennies (or fractions of a penny) per view (sold by the thousand) and have targeted advertising (ads shown to users that are likely interested in your ad) near or at the same cost of regular advertising.

So why not use google? Because I don't eat up your profits, I take 1$ per mile (per 1000 views) for myself. No more no less. And also, google requires you to embed all sorts of weird HTML and javascript, and tracks its users without necessarily too much care to protect them.
We may eventually start supporting paying per unique user, or per click.
