I've seen people buying/selling these, so I decided to make an easy guide on recoloring.
1. Go to http://minecraft.novaskin.me/
2. Upload your skin at the top left
3. Click "Filter" at the top right
4. Change the hue to whatever color you want the recolor to be. It will look very faint, but choose the closest option. I wanted a dark blue, so I set it to 51.
5. Adjust the gamma setting. 2.5 - 3 makes for the best quality.
6. Save it at the top middle. (Right click the image once it pops up and "Save as")
And that's it. Here's how it looked like in each step:
Regular, Hue, Gamma
If you're doing a human skin and the hue feature messes up the hair and skin, upload the recolor and original in http://needcoolshoes.com. Make sure the recolor is the skin on top and is selected. Use the transparency feature on the unwanted hair/skin and it will allow the skin to look normal, while having different color clothes.
