Single server or dedicated server?

Hey guys,
I'm currently in the starting stages of forming a 2 server network (2 server types + a hub) and I wanted to get some valuable input on server hosting.

So my question is, should I look at getting a dedicated server to host the different servers or just rent different single servers for each different server (and then join them together with bungee of course).

I believe the most important one is: you do what ever you want with it since you have full control over a server.
And I believe there are some personal reasons, such as: love the way it looks (because when someone comes and sees you having open some black screens they always think you're some hacker or computer genious )

This leads me to another question, what dedicated server hosts would you recommend?
