In my opinion, the reason I believe most developers dislike skript is that people quickly learn skript, and pass it off as professional plugin development while taking jobs from Java developers as the buyer won't know the difference. That, and the 3 required plugins needed to actually use a skript plugin just makes me cringe.
I agree, Skript is a powerful tool for those who don't wish to develop on a professional level, but as soon as you cross that line such as you did, you will undoubtedly be ridiculed by the majority of Java developers. Not saying this to insult you, but it's the way most people feel.

I'm not saying don't learn Java. Learn Java. You can do a lot of shit with it. However, you're speaking about servers with low player-counts. They're in that state due to the lack of unique content. Unless you've got over 100 players on your server. I doubt you'll see much of a performance difference.

And even then. Most server with 100+ players have a network and the players on it are divided up to different servers. Which means normally the player amount is below or equal (<=) to 50.
So Skript can be used for networks, too. And handle with more than 100 players at all.
