Can you even make money using skript? Google up UltimiteEssentialsPro....[DOUBLEPOST=1488269951][/DOUBLEPOST]But in all seriousness I suggest starting out with skript as it is much easier.

Start with Java, it will help you get an understanding of computer languages and how you can use them. Java is more fun, and more universal. You can make GUI's outside minecraft, I made a texting service, it was fun. skript on the other hand is more focused, and not as wide ranged. I would stay away from skript, it can become a bad influence.

Start with Python, its simple and is how i started Developing.

If your serious about programming don't do skript.

Only start with Java if you want to get into mc plugin development.

If your not interested in mc plugin development do C# or C++.

Skript is only good if you need to make simple/quick additions. (and even then knowledge of the Java equivalent can achieve the same result)

Spigot Server > Java Plugin
Spigot Server > Java plugin > Script Skript
(This might be a little vague, but basically your server runs plugins, and one of those plugins(called Skript) runs your skripts - Skripts are handled another level down than plugins which is unnecessary if you have the option)

If you want to do just plugins, then choose skript but if you are interested in programming as a whole learn C# or C ++.
