SMP / Survival Server Ideaas

There's a lot of SMP servers out there and we both know it, but I need help from you.
Is there anything you've seen on an SMP that was so unique you were "shocked"?
I am planning to open my own SMP server really soon that would have around 15-25 players actively. How would I keep them interested? What do some other good SMP/Survival servers have?

I think the number one thing you can do it to see what no other server does (or just another small one)
Something like lifesteal or whatever exists in a lot of servers now so basically won’t attract any players.

To do something that hasn’t been done before will probably require custom plugins though

Custom plugins aren't a problem.
