Hey there!

I've really wanted to begin animating minecraft charecters i had some ideas for a server i were making at one point to try and make it into a kind of trailer. But as the project dosent go live anyway i want to just try and learn the craft of animating! Then later on learn to edit with sounds effects and such. But one baby step at a time :D

So what kind of software do YOU use? And what kinds of addons do you use if any?
Any tips etc is much appericiated

I used to make animations, back in my day (2 years ago).
But I was never super insane, just decent, so these are just my thoughts on animation software's.
If you use cinema4D, I recommend using fmr character rigs. They are the best, in my opinion.

But here are 3 animating software's I recommend

1. https://www.mineimator.com/
-Use this one, if you want to quickly get into animation the easy way. You can make animations mad fast & lots of assets ready for you to use (But you can't go as advanced, as manually doing it with blender & cinema 4d I think)

2. Cinema4D
-You can make some really advanced animations, 3D Extrude your characters, get nice backgrounds, etc.
-I personally found it easier to use, when compared to blender. Animating with it is pretty good as well, just got to learn keyframes and stuff.

3. Blender
-Same thing with cinema4D basically, but I think you can do more advanced things

Tips:
When making large scale / long animations, fill in the gap with reply mod footage.
Such as cinematic views of castles, with a nice shaders pack, recorded using reply mod. (I havnt played mc in years, so reply mod may not exist anymore, but I used it back then)
It takes way longer to render animations, compared to rendering cinematic things with reply mod, so use animations to mostly render only character scenes.

To make your animations or renders look crisp, got to use a good Lightroom, lighting is very important.
(I dont remember what I used, do your own research)

Isn't blockbench best for this? Especially if you have no prior animating experience outside MC
or is that in-game only? probably can export it out back to blender if that helps.
