Someone sent me a virus on steam

Hey guys,

Somebody sent me a message on steam and it was a google documents link, which made me automatically download a picture that was a .exe file.


I know this is a virus/rat, and I did not open it, I deleted it straight away.


Will I be safe?

I would guess so, I've don't the same and been fine. As long as you didn't open or extract the files, you should be fine. This happens alot. Do not accept steam links unless you know the person sending them.

I'm pretty sure viruses only activate if you run them, so if you deleted it right away you should be safe.

Yes like everyone said that you should be good if as long as you didn't open it/run it.
