So this suggestion is pretty simple and here are some things I would think can help the forums regarding staff.

1. Allow the option for people to apply as staff and create a sub forum for that. Clearly there is not enough staff at the moment for the amount of people online everyday. Not only would hiring new staff members to the team would help the community get responses quicker but would also make the job easier for the current staff, making them have less things to deal with at once.

2. Have a system where the staff picks around 5 people who had fairly outstanding applications and make a thread to vote who the community would like to see as staff.

Of course this system can have some flaws but I am open to hear what you guys think or what you guys think can be changed to make this suggestion even better.

Thanks for reading,

Having an outstanding application does not reflect on the applicant's personality.
Written applications typically mean nothing on the MCM, the internet, or real life jobs.
Cover letters are usually briefly read and not used as an adequate source of information.

You see more about a person the more you speak with them / see them interact on the forums.
I'm pretty sure that a diligent person can get mod even if their application was literally "Hello. I'd like to be a staff member :)".

Applications are typically pointless on a marketplace. It suggests flame and saltiness (especially given the *small* range of ages on here) to those whom aren't accepted.

I don't see applications a good source of staff recruitment here on MCM.

Of course it would not only be a written application but also a bit of talking through Teamspeak, I would also expect the qualifiers to be fairly active users which most of us usually get to know with time.

Hand-picking staff seems to be a better system as there will be many applications that it would just be unreasonable to check them, users who truly deserve a chance are the ones who will be privately picked and offered the position, as stated above, you won't be able to tell anything about a person from an application.

I can write a great application, atleast I'd like to think I can. Now if someone writes a great application and acts very nice on TeamSpeak, that still won't be enough to prove that user deserves it, anyone can pull off an application and an interview.

You know how many troll applications there will be? Let alone, the real applications will be more than enough to handle. This suggestion is as good as dead, sorry.

terrible idea, everyone's ( a majority, not everyone, but we know the people who would ) just gonna kiss ass, an application doesn't prove anything.

prove you can be staff by not having the permissions. that's how I do it as a server owner.

Of course there will and so is there now with people making random troll threads, but I don't think we should let people trolling stop the community from growing and having more staff.[DOUBLEPOST=1460399543][/DOUBLEPOST]

As I said the qualifiers won't be complete randoms with only 1 message that have been on here for a week. I'm talking about users who we the community is familiar with and know well.[DOUBLEPOST=1460399870][/DOUBLEPOST]To add on to my suggestion maybe even add a time limit for people to apply (Around 1-5 days)? That way we know they are active users keeping up with the community and so that staff don't get buried with applications to read.

if they implemented this, they'd need to hire at least 3 staff members just to deal with the applications.
As for those that "qualify", how would you measure that?

would you restrict the option to apply to certain post amounts? encourages farming.
would you restrict it to join date? no guarantee anyone is active enough.
would you restrict it to trophies? more farming
would you restrict it to rank? Still plenty of premiums to overload current staff. supreme maybe, but still quite the number of people. Plus, spending money does not mean a person is a solid member of the community.

These 'qualified' people you mention are basically the types that staff already look at and consider. I'm pretty sure all people with attitudes similar to mine, for instance, have at least been superficially considered.

So this system would add very little for both us and staff. Staff would have more work, and we'd be spending time applying and getting denied. which is what will happen to most of us, or we'dve been invited to an interview already.

This sounds like a pretty good idea.
However there should be a base of the minimum requirements.
Like for example, it could be:
Must have Premium+
Must have no warnings in the past month
Must have no punishments from staff whatsoever
Must be generally liked by the community
Must have at least 150 QUALITY forum posts

and etc...

But yeah, this does sound good. However I think that like planetminecraft, new staff should start off on chat moderator, and then they see how it goes.
Again, this is just a suggestion,

A GAME SUGGESTION :p

so basically, moderators need to go through the posts of everyone with 150 posts to check if all those posts are quality before giving them greenlight to apply (or while checking them and auto-denying).
same for the generally liked, that's one hell of a job to check. how does that work?
the others seem pretty legit, but again, not going to be effective.

Technically as I see it, applying makes you look like you are trying to get your hands on a title, again almost anyone can make a decent application therefore all it would create would be spam.

Users who don't apply, don't ask, and are very helpful and kind to the community are the ones who deserve to take part in an interview, I just feel that hand-picking staff has a better chance of creating a wonderful staff member.
