Whenever I lock a thread, I generally state why I've locked the thread. While staff have been advised to do this, not all of them do.

Generally though, it's usually pretty obvious why a thread gets locked.

Usually sure, although there have been many cases where threads have been locked and the reason isn't so predictable. I don't see why staff shouldn't state a reason. It will only lead to future drama and suggestions like this.
