I was really wondering, what kind of prices are you guys paying per person in a hosting company for Minecraft Server Hosting and if that's all the stuff you need.

  • Art
  • Developers
  • System Administrators
  • Marketing

PebbleHost

Never started my own hosting company, you need to take care of your ToS, hire good system administrators, you need to be aware 24/7, or hire somebody to be aware 24/7 since problems can't start only on your end, hard drives my go bad, you need to have some sort of standard for your uptime, you don't want your customers to have downtime, if they lose money, players, respect, you lose it too by having downtime.

Its not all that, you should have an accountant to take care of your taxes and finances. Its a tough business these days, as you can see, there is ton of game hosting companys.

Think about your business structure, whats your plan on getting money, investing it etc. If you want to get bank loan to start with, you should write serious business plan, if you reall want I could show you mine but they are in Croatian.

Registratio n of a trade is less expensive than registration of a company, think about that, depending on your tax residency, you could be out of TAX system for yearly income of 50.000€ or less, do a research on that, but if you choose that path, you can't do TAX write off, it might be similar if you're in EU. If someones has any clue on how is it in other EU countries, he could tell you but thats how it is here in Croatia. Note, if you open a trade, you are personally resposible in case of debt, if you open a company, in case of debt, you can't personally be accountable since you're only an employee, comapnys have their own personal identification numbers, company is physical person in that case. Don't take that too seriously, damaged side could sue you personally for the damages.

Market research will tell you if there's an opportunity to turn your idea into a successful business, but its really hard these days since you're trying to provide users with something they can already get somewhere else. You should think about doing something that others don't,

Most important thing! Do it while you are still employed, its not cheap to finance it, if you're going to do everything as it should be, I saw a guy here that registered a company, bought hardware, had no clue how to setup a database. Imagine his drives failing, he probably didn't do a proper backup if he had such a hard time writing few lines in his command line that are available with simple google search.

Good luck!
