hello! i used to do a ton of logo design, animation, etc, but I feel like learning over again, im trying to 30 day logo challenge to build a portfolio on behance then I might design a new thread.

after i stopped design I went into watercolour, and learned a bit about color theory, perspective, etc, and started doing a lot more painting, and i feel those skills could possibly
import into my design.

thank you guys!

Traditional art theory will DEFINITELY help in your work, not so much for the technical skills but more to give you an eye as to what looks good. There's so much stuff out there that genuinely does not look great, and being able to spot it will give you a better understanding of what to avoid in your own work.

In my experience logo challenges are mind-numbingly boring and don't really reflect what a real customer might want, but they're ok for practicing technical skills if you're not quite there yet. Try to look for real clients on places like here or logorequests.reddit.com. Speaking of reddit - /r/logodesign has a fortnightly logo challenge which is far more detailed than the ones you'll find on, say, a blog post, and it'll help you to get feedback as well as to see other people's take on the same prompt. Definitely helped me a lot.

Also, if you're looking to build a portfolio I'd recommend just making stuff that you think looks cool for a fictional company. It's a lot more fun, and that's the most important thing that'll help you improve imo.
