Hey, I had a server that got quite popular between 2011 and 2013 but because of real life restraints sadly had to close it down. However I finally have decided to make another server but I really not sure what host I should go with. So I made this thread to ask people that know about server hosts what one they think I should go with. At the moment I am not really confident about my ability to set a dedicated server so I want to know what is the best server host.

Here is some of the host that i have looked at so far:
Ownage Hosting
https://www.ownagehosting.com/

BisectHosting
https://www.bisecthosting.com/

Thanks for checking my thread out please let me know your opinions about what I should go with :)

Are VPS's hard to set up? And could you please tell me where you got you VPS from :)
If you know linux commands,
How to install FTP,
How to secure your server,
and...
How to install java,
and basic stuff about minecraft... then yes..

I don't know nothing tbh I am a shared host noob :/ I have been looking up some tutorials so hopefully I will be able to get my server migrated to a VPS[DOUBLEPOST=1438816825][/DOUBLEPOST]
VPS's are just like dedicated servers. You have to install minecraft and if you want to a panel, etc.
How do you access the panel after installing it onto your vps?

Lol alright man thanks for all for the help :)
If your going to get a VPS I'd recommend you hire someone to install a panel for you.

But I see your leaning towards shared hosting. Bisect is a great host.

Thanks I have come to the decision that I'm going to go with the shared host that you suggested bisect hosting do you think I should go with the premium package or just the standard?

IMO standard would be fine. You don't need a dedicated IP, and the things such as unlimited slots aren't to much extra.

If you're uninformed don't make false statements. If you had a VPS yourself in the past and MC lagged like hell your host probably oversold the hardware and does not monitor their systems.
Well, with OVH in particular, it's suggested you do not run them for MC, the CPUs on the VPSs (OVHs) aren't good for minecraft, not sure really about other hosts, but OVHs are bad, why? They have crap single thread performance.
As for accusing me of a "False Statement", wasn't really "False" I just didn't specify OVH, I guess some other VPSs are good.

TheMinecraftHosting has bad support, at least in my case. They guy I was talking to just stopped talking after a while and really was not professional at all.
Maybe it was just you becuase me and other people that i know they told me that they have great support and also they helped me to choose my plan so...

OVH Classic VPS use horribly slow AMD Opterons with hundreds of virtual machines. Most normal hosts use newer model E3/E5 CPUs with SSDs.

If you're still looking for a host I recommend ExtraVM there's an option called 'Minecraft Setup' and they will install multicraft for you :) I personally haven't used them yet but it seems promising.

Don't have my server up yet. I'm hoping around 70
If you're going to have 70 I recommend a dedicated server instead of a vps, but if you're insure of your player count I would get 2 or 3 GB from ExtraVM. Also, if you plan to get an ExtraVM VPS use this promo code if you didn't see it 'kvm20off' It's 20% off every month I believe.
