Starting up?

Hey. I want to start a hosting company, money isn't really an issue for me either. I'm not entirely sure where to start though ha ha. Can someone with knowledge about running a hosting company tell me the first steps, or even recommend somebody who has experience with this? I'm not in it for the money either, just wanna have some fun with it.

Unless you have a good business strategy or something unique to offer, I wouldn't suggest getting yourself into it.

If you have a couple of grand laying around you could get a custom control panel developed and actually buy/colocate your hardware which sets you apart. You'd still need to have a keyperson for marketing. You wouldn't be running positive numbers anytime soon though.

The hosting industry is extremely saturated.

If spending money isn't a concern for you, I would highly suggest finding another market. In the hosting industry, time and knowledge are just as valuable as money.

There are many other industries which aren't overly saturated, I would look into something else.

To be honest, you can start a company but you need to come with a unique idea and have certain knowledge of servers/software/SSL website's etc. ofcourse you can start a hosting and hire external people to do your job. But overall everybody can start a hosting and as long as you have the motivation and dedication for it, you will reach your goal eventually. I wish you the best of luck with starting a hosting company!
