(TL;DR at the bottom)
Hey guys, there's a user that goes by the name "Crud" who has been attempting to scam multiple people.
One of the multiple people who he attempted to scam was me.
He started off by randomly messaging me, offering to sell me these two CS:GO skins, which would be worth about $400 total together:
- M9 Bayonet Lore FT (worth $333.50 USD on OPSkins)
- Gut Knife Doppler FN (worth $65.50 on OPSkins)
He tried to rip me off to start with as he wanted me to purchase the M9 Bayonet Lore from him for $460 USD, and the Gut Knife Doppler for $100, which was far higher than the prices on OPSkins.
I replied that I wasn't interested, so he asked why I wasn't interested and he said that he'd underpay. I then told him that values of the skins on OPSkins and that he should sell them on there instead. He then asked if I was interested again, saying that he only wants to sell his skins for PayPal money. I told him that I wasn't interested again and he asked how low he'd have to go to sell them to me.
I became suspicious because he seemed too eager to sell them to me, so I wanted to see what he'd say to a lowball offer, so I offered $320 for both knives, and he agreed without hesitation, which is what most scammers do when they don't intend on giving the items at all.
After he agreed, he wanted to talk via voice chat on discord, which is also another thing scammers do, so they can avoid having messages logged and used as evidence. Since he wanted to talk over discord, I knew this was extremely suspicious and I said that was unable to call at the moment.
I started screen recording the MCM conversation and showed that I added his discord from the chat in case he tried to change his discord later on and claim that it wasn't him. Here's the screen recording I took (I cut out some parts as I went onto different web pages / discords which showed personal information of mine):
In the discord chat he expects me to go first, and I say that he needs to first since I have enough reputation and that he is super new to the market. He then claims that reputation on MCM can be botted, which is obviously not true as there's real peoples profiles linked to each reputation.
He then tries to get me to pay half of the $320 first ($160) and says that he will send the 2 knives after (which is another tactic that scammers use to steal money). I notice this as a scam immediately, so I unfriended him and stopped messaging him over discord. He's now frustrated that he was unable to scam me, so he leaves a bad reputation on my profile and moves onto his next victims.
Here's a conversation that he had with OGMinemanner, who he was attempting to scam:
As you can see, he refused to use a middleman with OGMinemanner and made multiple invalid excuses, and claimed that OGMinemanner was trying to middleman scam him.
After that, he left a negative reputation for OGMinemanner as he wasn't able to get his way and scam him, which pretty unfair for OGMinemanner since he's new to the forums and hasn't done anything wrong.
He appears to have also tried this on Sir_Snape. I haven't asked Sir_Snape to show proof of this yet, but this is what Sir_Snape's reputation says about Crud:
That is very similar to what happened with OGMinemanner.
Crud has also trashed peoples threads because he was unable to get his way.
These are the 2 negative reputations that Crud left on OGMinemanner, and Sir_Snape.
I left reputations on OGMinemanner and Sir_Snapes profiles telling people who view their reputation to ignore Cruds as he was the one who was attempting to scam them.
A while after I did this, he replied to the conversation and said that he would negatively rep me unless I go first with him, threatening me. I was annoyed about this, so I negatively repped him, and told people not to deal with him as he was attempting to scam. After I did this, he said that he was going to "bot" me, as shown here:
I'm pretty sure that in itself is a violation of the rules, since he's threatened me twice now.
TL;DR: He claims reputation is botted, refuses to use a middleman & trust reputable people, attempts to scam people by getting them to go first, negatively reps and trashes victims threads if they don't go along with it, threatens to bot people, and in general is an extremely toxic person.
Scam Reports have been delayed temporarily, so I just want you guys to know about what Crud's trying to do to members, and that you should steer clear of him, since he'll just end up negatively repping you if he doesn't get his way.
