so, recently ive seen alot of people giveaway free and untaken semi-og names.

doing this also boosted their rep by 10, someone even 20.

ive given names but i havent gotten rep and it isnt really fair to get 20 rep in a day from mass giving.

lmk opinions and if you disagree why.

Kinda agree with this tbh, just means that a random user can join the site, giveaway some names from the thousands out there, rack up easy rep and then be considered a trusted member, whereas in reality, other people have got the same amount of reputation over a long period of time with actual deals and hard work

I mean reputation is a system based on opinion but it sure does feel bad when people get loads of rep from lists of semi ogs if what zack says is true when I spend a lot of time of the things I've done. Then again before dealing with someone you should check their reputation. 100 rep means nothing unless you check and see what they're all for.

Yea bro bobs going to sign up giving away one account and nows hes the most reputable, logic please.
Exactley, look at MisfitNerd, Glove, etc.
They work hard (selling, loans etc) and get rep and someone gets +20 in a day.

Literally everyone will be at 200 rep if we don't stop this.

my "opion" is that no, if someone wants to mass give semi-ogs in order to get reps, why can't they? No reason to stop them. No need to get jealous.
That's basically like giving away free stuff to become popular and win people over, without actually doing anything. Imagine if politicians just gave out free candy to get elected. It's essentially a similar concept. Reputation is earned, not by giving out free stuff worth next to nothing anyways.
No, because people should be smart enough and check rep to see if the rep is based on trustworthiness or stupid giveaway things. That's why some of the most respected members don't have a lot of rep

Yes, you're both correct. Users should be smart enough to evaluate the reputation of a user they're potentially dealing with. Nonetheless, a rep saying "gave me a free semi" isn't really worthy of reputation anyways. Something worthy is "Vouch bought a $50 Semi-OG, easy deal.", which clearly shows a good deal went down between two users. Giving away free stuff shouldn't be a way for users to earn reputation. If it is then I might as well go make cheap art on Photoshop that takes 2 minutes to make and just give it away. Easy 50+ rep!
Thats retarded, If people rep them they deserve the rep. Thats that.
That's not at all the case. So if I randomly rep you saying "User is very rude", does that mean you automatically deserve it? It's kinda the same deal.
Nope, 20 reputation in a day isn't fair.
Completely agree.

Obviously if someone gives out a bunch of free stuff they won't necessarily become the most reputable or anything. But every user here perceives the reputation system a bit different. I've seen people trust someone with 3 rep, and some people who don't trust someone with 40 rep. Everyone is different. So if a user sees 20 reps that say "gave me free stuff", they may think "Oh, they seem really nice since they give a bunch of free stuff away", then deal with them and get scammed.

Exactly. Some people here actually go through a deal to get all of their reputation. So for people to give away free stuff for reputation is rather unfair to those who don't do that.[DOUBLEPOST=1503534627][/DOUBLEPOST]
I mean I may make free stuff but it takes me a long time. Funny thing is I never really get vouches for when I purchase or sell items. ( 3 or 4 times lol )
Well you do know you are allowed to ask a user for a rep after a deal has taken place. You just can't ask for a specific rep, meaning you can't say like "yo can you leave me a positive rep". But if you simply ask them to rep you, it's perfectly allowed. So you can get reputation from your deals legitimately without breaking rules.

Once again, it comes down to this site's obsession with quantity>Quality. If someone's reputation is 80% "vouch, gave me free shit" and then paraphrased, nobody in their right minds would count it as legitimate feedback on the business in question.
Honestly, I personally regard reputation of such low quality/origin as similar to negative rep. It demonstrates that you need random stuff like that to gain reputation.
On the other hand, the entire number in general seems counterproductive. It encourages quantity thinking, despite each reputation having the potential to mean something completely different.

Example (this is not meant to as negative, though it may come across as such) you have 41 reputation. I have 15. Your reputation seems to be mostly about selling accounts and emails and stuff. good, that means you're way less likely to scam, if you did that 41 times successfully.
Mine, on the other hand, is half about providing an active service and half about just helping people out (with a few LQ ones in there that are honestly almost embarrassing).
These give a completely different impression. One is of a successful and active businessman, the other is of a helpful guy who provides a decent service (impression of the reputation, not my own view!)
Why am I saying this? Because it means that if someone's reputation is all "gave me free stuff"(full circle) then the impression they give is "will hand out free stuff, come get it!".
As such, if they're looking to actually do business, they're stabbing themselves in the foot by doing this. And therefore I believe that the need to forbid this reputation version of vouch-copies is minimal. Especially since a lot of it probably falls under non-constructive, or should anyway

TLDR: Due to the crazy focus on quantity we have here, these guys think they're getting something good. They're not, really, and will hopefully realize that. If we start focusing more on quality, their entire practice fails. As such I don't quite think it's needed, though reporting low quality rep for "non-constructive" might help.
