people are disabling their accounts and re-enabling them after like a week for some good old attention, why are you allowing people to disable their accounts ? theres literally no good reason for them to do it.

Only disabled to see how long it took for staff to disable my account (took less than 24 hours), I put in a request a 1-2 days after. But took over a week for that to get looked at.

One I see often is to prevent themselves from using most of the site. While yes, they could just log off, some think they need to go as far as to temporarily disable their account.

Sure, but not everyone has good self control. And it’s not like everyone disables their account for the same reason.
Some people, instead of getting their account deleted, will disable their account.

It's something we offer. It doesn't disrupt any of the sites functions and if people wish to disable their accounts, I see no reason to not comply. It's their decision in the end. Some people have used the disable feature simply so they can focus on their studies for example, and that is a totally respectable decision if you do that.

People have various reasons and if we can offer them an option which doesn't affect the site negatively, why not let them?

Couldn't you just disable them without adding a 'restricted account' or something tag? So, it looks like they just haven't gotten on.
