Make it so that while a deal is occurring there is a new thing letting anyone know that this person is doing a deal. This can be like a mark on the persons pfp or something. This can prevent someone from scamming multiple people at once

What if one user checks a mark that says dealing with "this person" and never removes it, etc.

The only good thing to do, is that to leave a neutral rep to notify people about and a post on the user's profile cautioning to read the rep.

Or if someone has an open report, restrict their access to the site to prevent them from scamming anyone else? If the user isn’t scamming then the disputes would of been dealt with via pm and without MCM staff.

Sounds like a great idea on paper, but it’s one of those things that would probably be difficult to implement and sort of annoying to deal with. As someone else mentioned, what if someone leaves it on? What if people don’t mark it at all? That makes more work for us to moderate, and still, it would become meaningless very fast if it wasn’t always up to date.
It’s a good idea, but I would say that a better suggestion would be to utilize neutral reps instead as Joshua C said. At the moment I feel the neutral sort of goes unexplored, so if anything, I think that’s the place to expand on.

I have a (completely illegitimate) scam report still open from March, my reputation would've been tarnished this whole time if that feature was implemented. Terrible idea.

We do have plans in the future for custom development of an on-site contract/deal system, and the idea is that the system would have a way to view peoples current contracts through a tab on their profile. It should be pretty cool, and more will be discussed about it closer to getting it properly developed.

That idea will work far better than this suggestion for what you are wanting to achieve I think.
