I know this is possible but never seen one before so.
Anyone know how I should start one?
(SkyBlock - Factions)

i.e
Should I get a Logo?
Website?
Setup?
Plugins?

to be fair, 100$ a really tight. Like a decent logo will take 1/2 of that, XF & hosting would be like 25~ ( when I had 1 made ) then monthly / yearly hosting prices. Setup, you could use the 10$ 1's from the resource tab, then YTbers are more. So its not easy to start with 100, and most likely you will end up losing $.

You'll definitely need a logo and site. These are things define your server. Unfortunately with $100 you're not going to get something top-notch but it's better than nothing. For website, unfortunately I'll have to suggest enjin. MyBB could work but you need a web designer to actually make it look good and we don't come cheap. Skyblock server would be best. You don't need to invest too much into it unlike a faction server. Plugins you'll have to use premade. You're not getting a custom after the money is used up for everything else.

Steps you should take:
Server
Server name
Server logo
Server website
Builds (use premade. You won't have the money for custom)
Plugins

XF & hosting
I know some really great hosts that you can get it for $1.00 a month. Also, NamelessMC is just as great as XF - and it's free.

There's a lot you have to do in most cases. 100$ is tight, as mentioned, but there is still a lot you can do with that amount. I just suggest you do what you can, and work on saving up some more money.

A friend and I were starting up a server, and just for start-up costs, we had only used around $25-50.

im just going off what I used to use. hosting was like 9$ per quarter for a cheap plan, and XF wasnt too expensive.

With $100 I would recommend
Fallout-Hosting for hosting
Enjin for a website and donation store
Buy a namecheap domain
Buy a mc-market server setup
Buy any extra premium plugins needed for that server setup

XF is like $100+ now, and tbh I think it's WAY overpriced.
Yes, it has a lot of great features, but Nameless has a lot more interactive support (The developer and creator is the most active support member), and though XF has a few more features, Nameless does almost all of the same things XF does.[DOUBLEPOST=1545582841][/DOUBLEPOST]
I'm also considering to make a discord server instead of website.
A lot of times I don't really suggest that. Those normally end up having quite a few problems, e.x, how do you report a player? How do you apply for staff? How do you appeal for unban? There's just a lot of things that are really questionable about that.

Meanwhile, I am down $3000.

It is definitely possible to make a server that is somewhat successful with $100 USD but you would be looking at a 10 playerbase faction server (you would have to grow from there).

$100 is tight but it's not impossible :) Make a list of your essentials and make a list of your wants.
You will need a good host.
For $100 do you really need a website? Will a discord server do the job?
Do you really need a donation store? Chances are, with $100 it's going to be a smaller server with a few committed members, maybe waiting till you get a better budget before donations are an option?
This would cancel out the need for Graphics also... helping your price.
Just take your time, think about ways to save a few $$ without losing quality.

It's possible, if you know the right people. I'd suggest getting a resource for MC-M, and changing it quite a bit. If you don't have the time for that, hire someone to do it for you. I remember when I started up a server, I had around 30 players on launch that stayed for a while, racked in $120 in donations in the first 20 minutes. That server cost me around $30 to make. I eventually ended up selling it for around $65. If you have the patience and the skills, go for it.
